As someone else here has said, the suits are wrecking everything.

  4. GM is whacking out Pontiac and Saturn in its attempt to become a viable company again. They claim they will keep the Pontiac name for unnamed special products in the future.

The writing has been on the wall for some time...it only makes sense since they wouldn't give up that stupid ugly grand am/grand prix/G6/GTO grille, they all looked the same...

  9. Why didn't they kill Buick instead?
Pontiac DID still have buyers under 60.

that is pretty sad news. i think they should get rid of all brands and call them "gm". i think it would save them a ton, and ****, all the models look the same anyway between brands. but it is still sad news. pontiac was my favorite, right behind caddy.

Pontiac hasn't made a single vehicle worth buying since 1972....Ok, maybe the trans am and formula firebirds until 78.

    Good riddance.

The Sunfire I use as a daily driver has gotten me through seven years and even survived being stolen and dumped in a chert pit back in '06. If she blows up today it has been one of the best cars I have ever owned. Nothing to look at but a fine little machine.

The word is that the Pontiac name will be retained for "niche" market vehicles.
Man.. I hope there are no niches that like things like the monstrosity in the picture.
However, they do look like a good start for a Mad Max vehicle.

another stupid move to bury them further. cadillacs can't compete in the high end market. and they get uglier every year! if we can live without packard, studebaker, hudson and desoto we could live without pontiac!

I'd bet on the new Solstice coupe being one of those niche' cars. They are hot! With the turbo motor and mid-20's gas mileage it looks like a winner.

Buick is a higher-margin car, still a cool car for the grandparents, so in the short term they'll survive, but in ten years? Buh-bye.

I don't disagree with the strategy, why buy a Pontiac clone of a Chevy?

I liked the Solstice. Except it should have had a V8. At least it was different. But then, with Chevy crying every time one of the other brands came out with anything is a high hp V8, I just know they went crying to Pa GM and it would get ****canned. The Fiero was supposed to have a V8. Nope. Whatever.

The Chinese LOVE Buicks. In China, Buick is a status symbol type of car, for some reason, and GM sells more Buicks in China than they do here in the US. They recently released a new Park Avenue in China that isn't even sold here... This is why they didn't kill Buick.

I'm sorry to hear about anything else being choked off by this damn Depression. My daughter loved her some Saturn cars, and the plastic skins were real good with the kind of little traffic impacts she has so many of.

I'm not a Pontiac fan other than the 61 Catalina 3-2 4 speed bubble top which was totally *****in. But I thought the Solstice was a hell of a lot cooler than an XBox

Bad move. They need to get rid of those running GM. Until that happens, GM has no choice but fail.
