I talked to a guy at the swap meet today who says he may have an Edmonds dual carb intake for a Pontiac straight 8 but is not 100% sure it is for a Pontiac.
Is there a way to definitely ID it? Is a Pontiac intake different from a Buick or Olds?
Thanks for any and all help.

I'd take an intake / exhaust gasket(s) over to see how ports and mounting flange holes align with intake itself. A cheaper alternative than buying only to then establish that it won't fit.

Buicks were OHV i8s. Olds & Xler were OHV v8s by '49 and '51. So probably a Pontiac. Jack E/NJ

What are you basing your ***umption on that it is a Pontiac? Unless I missed something, the OP didn't really give enough info to eliminate the possibility that it could be for a Buick or Packard. Without some detail, the best way to identify it is as mgtstumpy suggested.

I forgot to say that it is for a 1950 Pontiac 8. Sorry!

That may be kinda tough. In the alternative, take a bunch of photos and write down a bunch of measurements (if you already have the car you want to put it on).

I just remembered that I have a spare intake in my shop. I can lay out a "gasket" on some thin plywood or a piece of cardboard. All I really need are the outside dimensions, right?

I lost the sellers info so I walked all day Thursday at the swap meet which is held at an old airfield. I didn't find him Thursday so when I got there Friday I started a quick search because I had parts there for sale and needed to be at my spot. Still no luck so after sitting and selling some of my junk I had to hit the bathroom. I left my spot, walked about 50 feet, made a left turn and about tripped over the guys tables. He had just got set up. Anyway, he had the intake and after some begging and pleading he agreed to let me have it. It matched the cast iron intake I took perfectly.
So, now I will start the hunt for some carburetors.
