Okay... Okay.... stop begging here are the last four months of my life for your viewing pleasure. Starting with mockup pics.
Two engine stands and a little black paint sure made the frame look like somthing that should be under a 55 chevy.
Tuned the engine on the stand and droped it in the ch***is. The old guy in the pics is my dad. He put the ch***is together in about a week. I think he has had more fun building my car than I have.
Thanks. It just gets better from here. Now we get some color and the two pieces get together for the last time.
Two days to Mokan and I got a lot done today. Alignment, front tires, exhaust, sealer primed the front clip, and put it all back together. Then I chopped out the rear wheel wells so they would actually be round and clear the tires. Its been a long day.
I will finish the wiring tomorrow and get some pics out in the sun. Thanks to all the guys that helped. This wouldnt have been possible without you and the HAMB. Root Im going to make it to Mokan
...aint it great when a plan comes together?....better let your dad have the first drive! Nice 55.,...love them g***ers.
Hey I recognice that double nickle! : ) Looking good. Good luck at the races We have to do that some day. Have a Fantaboulous weekend! Klaus
We made it to the drags and had a blast. We got three good p***es. The best time was a 15.32. Then I learned a valuable lesson. Slicks are hard on parts. Ill admit it was my fault, dad said take it easy, but it was running so good. I didnt get my line lock installed before we left so I was doing rolling burnouts and during the third one she started bouncing. Dave told me after the run the rear end looked like it was moving around more than it should. We checked it out and everything looked fine so I hit the track one more time. The engine and trans slid back about an inch and when it did the clutch stuck to the floor on my 1-2 shift. I zinged the motor pretty good but I didnt blow it up. No serious damage but I was a little upset. The pedal came up at about the halfway mark and she started pulling in second so limped my way back to the pits and did somthing I havent done in a long time. I parked my car on the trailer and went to the stands and watched everyone else race. I sat there with Dad and Dan and we watched cheered and laughed untill the last car ran down the track and they told us to go home. It was cool to see all the people that I had met over the weekend run. I am usually in the line, on the track, at the trailer, or somewhere in between. I might spend a little time in the stands next year just to see some of the show. I will post some pics as soon as I get them ready. Pooch
Man, that **** but I'm glad you made it. From the bottom of my heart I really have to try to get to the drags next year. Best of luck to you and give our best to your family.
Wow that ****s! At least you can say you had fun doing it. HAMB drags Hmmmm. next year Hmmmm. Something to think about! Best wishes to you! Don't worry you'll have her back on the roads again soon! See ya Klaus
Breaking stuff is never that fun, but it makes for great stories to tell. I'm ready to go to the drags now. Come on next year. Now hurry up and get that car fixed, I've got a truck waiting on you. Good luck with it.
The car is awesome no matter what it runs! Next year it'll be scorching our eyes and scorching the track. Just remember the traction bars. (Maybe now we know why so many g***er chevies ran ladder bars?) It was great to see all of you again. We gotta start doing this more than once a year. Anything in the Spring in your area?
I haven's seen the trick of using 2 engine stands as a rotisserie, very cool. I am in the middle of a bunch of frame welding, that is going to come in handy.
Great build up photos pooch! It was great meeting you this weekend!!! I'm comin down to Yukon soon!!!
Come on down Friday nights are always good. We usually have something going on. If you come down on the 29th you could catch our last poker run of the year. Pooch
