Poor Boys, I hope you get past all this and end up with a killer show that goes off without a hitch.

That being said, trouble doesn't go where it isn't welcome. Rather, it doesn't come out in droves. You don't hear or see this kinda stuff at, say, a GG event. I think that is mostly due to the fact that someone can feel when they are being immature. I go to a show to look at cars and gain a better perspective on design. Some people go to feed off of others "vibe" and find a cool after party to fit in. I think if WE ALL display a disapproval to the destructive behavior of the modern male, we can stamp this out. But what do I know, I'm only 24 and don't get scenesters.

This has been my Public Service Announcement.:)

Most of us older guys have seen this coming for a while now. We've been talking about it and trying to educate younger guys whenever possible. It's obvious what's happening, and it boils down to one word---RESPECT. I have gotten some shit just for telling people to put a muffler on their car, it may seem trivial compared to what started this thread, but it lies at the root of it, respect for others. There are those who think that hot rodding is all about disrespecting laws and common decency, this whole rockabilly/ratrod attitude that has invaded this hobby is going to send us all back to the dark ages of rodding if we don't do something to police it ourselves. The general public tends to punish the whole group for the stupid actions of a few.
I remember when hot rods practically disappeared from the streets around here, because a few guys pushed it too far, but over the years, thanks to the STREET ROD movement we cleaned up our image, and laws became more laxed, hell, we're even allowed to toss the fenders here now. But now of course many have turned the name street rod into a dirty word, and only use their cars as a pass to a party.
When you put on an event, and advertise it as such a party, and even encourage such behavior, don't bitch to us when things go wrong. Police your ranks before you fuck it all up for the rest of us. We old farts may be boring, but we brought this hobby to where it is, I hope there's enough responsible younger guys to carry it forward when we're gone, instead of just running it into the ground.

  4. yes im a young angry male, but first and foremost,im a gearhead to the FUCKIN bone!.
    so ill make this suggestion.

all you gotta do to rid yourself of the non gearhead trash, is gather a bunch of your meaner friends together and " filter " the trash out.. with a crap load of violence.

  5. yep. 100% agreement with that statement....

Sorry to hear about all the damage to your guys name. I think if you get rid of the "After Party" and just keep it as a Rod and Custom show then all the posers will just weed themselves out. Again sorry to hear about the mess I didn't make the show this year but I will definitly support you guys in whatever you decide to do next year.

  7. What a bunch of Bull Shit. I'm sure the kind of girls you think you are impressing are either dumber than dirt or are just laughing AT you. I have been to many events in my time and got drunker than hell and yet unlike you and your moronic friends I have never had the urge to throw something or cause other destruction, especially to other peoples property. Sorry, there just isn't anything cool or right about that, there's NO excuse. If you don't believe that, throw the next party at your house and tell everyone to intentionally fuck up your stuff, maybe shit on your front seat, tag your walls, and see how you feel about it when you sober up. Guaranty you'll be all pissed off.
Just because there is a party and the motel puts out a beer garden, that does not give you the right to act like complete jackasses and ruin things for everybody else. If you want to do shit that stupid go out in the middle of the desert and be dumb shits all you want.
Take a little responsibility and act like human beings instead of animals.

  9. I blame it all on the MTV. These young punks with their hula hoops and Dan Fogelberg records, jacked up on goofballs, and behaving like animals. And the defacation, I wonder if that rapper Poop Daddy was there?

  10. Put a super high dollar price on admission. Keep the show and activities in fenced off or enclosed securied areas.

2,000 people can still have a good time without destorying property or someones reputation.

If you host a concert starring "The Osmonds", expect lots of families and a shitload of Mormons.

If you host a gay and lesbo picnic, expect lots of homos.

I'd like someone to post a copy of the flyer promoting this event in Sacto.

How folks look doesn't always dictate their actions/interests that is for sure.

Hey if you have cuffed pants and the requisite black tee (will call it the "uniform") and are into and I mean really into cars and its not just what your into right now then you give a shit what happens at an event and you won't act like a dick. The wanna-bes usually have nothing to lose and have no true interest in this stuff so they act up and cause problems for the real hot rodders. I have yet to see a non-"uniform" wanna-be at a HAMB type event though :).

Me, well I've been told I look like someone that is a "muscle car guy", what ever the fuck that means I don't know. I guess I need to get a '69 Camaro with a numbers matching motor and ralley wheels to fit the part. Do I have to wear the "uniform" so people will take me as a serious hot rod cat or does that make me a posser-billy too?

Dress the way you want, just don't act anyway you want. The simple rule is to treat others like you want to be treated.

Has it really come to this? pissheads crapping on the grass and defacing other peoples property and people argueing about cuffs, black T`s and tats, and "A Listers" lol....find the culprits, send them a bill (which they wil ignore, probably with a lot of attitude). then ban them from any and all events...ignore the post alcholic remorse and whining and just exile the the morons....nip it in the bud and make it hard, no exeptions. This sort of thing has the potential to affect the whole Early Hot Rod scene(hate that word, but can`t think of another)...with all the anti car legislation going on, this is about as useful as a third nut.

  15. I think this hits the nail on the head thanks Ron. I wasn't able to attend this show unfortunatly, but it sounds like a bunch of assholes did. Now I have been known to inbibe in a lot of to much booze at a show before, but writting on walls, crapping in bushes, throwing beer bottles, burning carpets, grow the fuck up. The only socially unacceptable thing I've done is maybe puke in a garbage can. Yeah I had the decentcy to do it in a can. Another time I just crawled up in my truck and past out, good use of my hotel room that night huh. Point is if you are going to get shitty and act like they did at this party stay home if you can't handle the booze, we'll be happy to have the party at your house. Whats the address?

Mazooma. Looks pretty straight forward to me. Nothing outrageous provided I found the right flyer?

Bunch of brain-trusters with all the answers...:)

Right now the blame lays right where it should be... With the Poor-Boys...
Let's not try to shift it to 'scenesters,' 'young angry males,' 'rat-rodders,' or whoever else...

It was a "Poor-Boys" event, and even if not a single Poor-Boy caused any of the damage (RIIIIIGHT), they should have had the pride to stop it...

It's pretty simple really... There's tools everywhere... But if you have them in your club or at the show your club throws, you've done something wrong.

Fix it... Or make the club and or the show go away...

It's not about 'the scene,' or the type of cars, or the age-group, or the type of show, or any of that...

It's about RESPONSABILITY... Both at the personal level, and the responsability the club has to protect the community and the other show goers for a bunch frat-party regects who refuse to accept responsability...

So it isn't up to the HAMB or a bunch of outsiders to fix the problem...

It's time to accept responsability for this happening on your watch and heal thyself...

Everybody, anywhere, who chooses to wear Poor-Boys colors and affilliate themselves with the group, shares in the responsability to make this go away.

That's the rub about joining a club, you're only as cool as you're biggest dufus... And you carry the weight of everyone in the fancy jacket.

And every HAMBer shares in the responsability to make this thread go away... :)
