It will be interesting to see how you hotrod your car.

Some members of my extended family bought new one in France in about 1959 and drove it all over Europe including across the Alps.

They liked it enough to have it shipped back to the US.

It was not fast but it was reliable and the rubber band suspension made it ride very well.

There were some very big drainage dips in the street at the end of our street that had scrape marks from where cars had bottomed out from trying to go faster than about 15 or 20 mph over them.

We were taken for a ride over those bumps at about 35 mph and the Citroen Cv2 just floated over them.

It took about 2 blocks to get it up to 35 however. :D :D

This car is not a typical traditionsl hot rod starting point but please give this Frenchman a brake he is using what he has to make something faster and better. A Hot Rod.

    Dick :) :) :)

Oh yes, this one should be interesting.

I remember years ago reading a story about some guys trecking across some third world country and taking it almost all the way apart and floating it across a river on a raft.

I don't know what engine you are going to use in it but if it were my car I would put a Honda Goldwing engine with opposed cylinders and shaft drive.

I would also leave the body stock looking to make it a sleeper.

I understand that you are going to customize the body and it will be interesting to see what you come up with.

    Good luck,

    Dick :) :) :)

What engine and drive-train are you using? It looks like you are preparing for a rather more powerful engine than stock? Bon chance!

  15. Yup, Curt drives a Citroen 2CV in AG.

Sounds like a cool build! I'm also wondering what engine this little beast is going to get? Flattie Ford? Citroen Pallas? Hayabusa? Looks like it could go any way!

I drove one in 1986', shifter came out of the dash....push-me-pull-me thing. Looking foward to your build.

  17. Nice fab work you're doing there, looks like you have all the right tools to do anything you want to do. ;)

  18. France's answer to the Volkswagen - always heard them being called "das Ente" ("Duck") when I was in Germany. Why call it a "duck"? Hell if I know.

Grew up in one of these, love it

You can fit a Citroën Gsa X1 flat 4 air cooled 100hp engine which is plenty in a 600kg car , or I knew of a turbo one

Citroën built a twin engine 4*4 one I think they rallied it

Wonderful!! Different doesn't really state it properly. Back in the mid-50s, US Army in Perigieux, I bought a Porsche 356. Rolled it up. While it was being repaired I bought a used 2CV. Gear shift looked like a golf club sticking out of the dash. Seat were like a lawn chair. Going up a hill with more than two people, some had to get out to make it up the hill. A GREAT CAR!! Impossible to drive without laughing. And, oddly enough, dependable as hell. Please, keep us up to date with words and photos.

  24. I love seeing ugly cars rodded. Cant wait to see how this turns out.
    I thought this was cool.
