    International rodding at its best!
There was a number of Citroen (2CV & 4CV) in the San Francisco bay area, from the late '50s thru the '80s...(they were the brunt of many 'happy' jokes...)
I was a Porsche/VW wrench in the early years ('57-'67) and we serviced lots of these.
I always thought they were just 'spartan' enough that one would make a cool street runner, (356 Porsche powered, natch!)

I'm glad to see this one on here, it helps to 'weld us together' worldwide.
(just don't stand too close to the Citroen flux...if ya get what I mean)

Fascinating clever suspension. The tubes alongside the rails contain coil springs connected so the tubes work as springs in tension. They are free-floating and acted on by the front and rear wheel on that side, but located relative to the rail by additional springs. The result is warp articulation, which allows insane wheel movement, legendary ride quality, and remarkable roadholding without ever causing the frame to flex. Hence the spindly ladder affair in the above photos: nothing heavier is needed.

It's a pity extreme 2CV surgery so often involves chucking the suspension in favour of something comparatively crude and boring.

Being fond of 2CVs I'd like to see where this build goes: subscribed.

I thought you could quite easily wind the suspension down on these cars (I once saw one in the UK that was slammed on it´s arse!) . Made me wonder why you want to channel it. Incredible metalwork in any case.

  16. Mika112,
your metal fabricating skills are excellent. I can't wait to see how this looks. Are you planning on any custom body modifications?

Probably because the way its originally built it has quite a bit of stuff hanging below the rocker panel level.

    2cv-drawing-1-l.jpg

Now he can lower it more with the same ground clearence.

    And I agree...

    Very impressive metalwork.

Here's an idea I've had before:
using the 2CV suspension to carry front and rear axles.

Abolutely superb metal work!!! I love the way you are lowering the car without messing with the caster angle in the front suspension. What size rectangular tube and tube thickness did you use for your frame rails. I have a 2cv with a disintegrated frame and would like to build something similiar.

I think the actual 2CV was in fact made almost enirely from scaffolding.
