  4. Say it ain't so! I was just there last summer while in town for the Messaround. A grocery store chain tore down our Porky's three summers ago. A REALLY cool 1959 drive in/ restaraunt with parking for almost a hundred cars. Best cruise night you ever saw. "The Man" can take anything away from you he wants to,so it's more important than ever to join SAN (Sema Action Network). Among other things, they fight legislations that would limit or eliminate our ability to drive our old cars. It' free to join, and every name on their roster is more ammo when they go to bat for us. You're already at the computer!

It pissses me off everytime I drive by where Porky's used to be in Des Moines. They leveled the lot to build a Hy-Vee. Last I heard the DOT won't even let them build there anymore. Fight to keep it. It changed the car scene around here. They have other cruise nights here, but its not the same. Back to Fifties and Car Craft, Porky's is the place to be up there.

What a bummer it is that's is closing. I had my first milkshake there as a little kid and I hoped to take my 3 year old there this summer for hers.

It's going to be gone regardless of what anyone wants, University is a changing place with the new light rail project...and Nora's kids don't want the hassle of it, nor does anyone else that actually knows how to run a successful business...face it, aside from a few nights a year (fewer and fewer each year) the place is a ghost town or over-run by assholes and douchebags in shitty cars that only know how to talk shit, puff out their chest and do crappy burnouts in large crowds...
