Port-a-Wall Source...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by SwitchbladeTeeth, Oct 1, 2003.

  1. Other than ebay anybody have a good source for port-a-walls. Dont knock me for wanting ports because I am going WAY low budget...PepBoys 79.99 for 4 tires and some port-a-walls for the same price as 1 yes 1 radial 2.75" coker tire. And that was the cheapest radial I have found at 162 dollars a piece.
So where can i order some port-a-walls online ?

  2. Almost forgot to add, NADS don't tear me a new****hole because i didnt call and ask you first [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

I ran 6.50 16 tube type bias plys with port-o-walls on my '48 Fordor for about 3 years with no problems.

Radials, however are a different story. Radials have much more sidewall flex that bias plys, so port-o-walls tend to come apart at high speeds when mounted on them. I know several people who tried running port-o-walls on radials and they all ran into to that problem very quickly.

Nope, they just have 14 x 2's and 15 x 1 3/4's. If you can believe this***** the place over in Turkey or wherever that makes em' burnt to the ground. Crazy.

And I'd never rag ya' for running Port-A-Walls. They're cool as all hell & about as "vintage" as you can go...other than a 6 x 2 set-up of course.

Yeah I got a pile of them, but haven't sorted through them yet. They are all 14"ers. I need to go through em, sort em, clean them and then you guys will have dibs. I owe a set to PeteJoe cause he found the ebay auction.

To be honest I think they are gay, I have them on the slicks on my roadster and they hold up pretty well cause the stiff side walls, but they look like***** on radials.

NO TIME TILL AFTER THE PILE UP So don't ask.

I am running atlas brand port a walls on michelin radials.I put a smear of rubber grease between the tyre and the flap and it seems to stop any problems caused by flex.Have been on about 18 months so far with no signs of cracking or splitting and I drive the car every day.
