Eddie, Hell yea, Im going to be there all weekend. Thursday-Sunday.

1971BB427, I guess a guy could get 5 days in if you count cruisin the PIR meet on set up day, Wednesday.

Vonhyde, Its ok if you dont know anyone at the meet. I dont like gettin tied down to long conversations anyways.. I like to keep movin and peekin! But if you DID want to meet some of us, look on the map I supplied on the first page of this post for the Expo. Meet some of us at noon, friday, in the east lobby of Hall E. See you then!

    IM GETTIN ANTSY!

    "Swamp meat"??? I know what a
"swap meet" is, but this "swamp

strange - even for the H.A.M.B.....and not
    very appetizing either!!! :eek::D

DADDYLAMA.... TRYING to keep in mind "I'm only looking for model A parts this time"... but i'm sure i'll leave with tons of other stuff, like every year. SBF, harley stuff, anything shiny. the highschool kids that carry parts for $5 make it too easy to buy more stuff...
We will have model A stuff. 28-29 sedan body with doors and 30-31 sedan body. Cowls, fenders, and tin. Engines and transmissions too.Tons of flathead stuff. Don't know if we will bring it all but we have pictures and it's got to go. See ya at the track 6167

Swamp meet=rainy day at the track. If you have never experienced a muddy day at the track , especially days 2, 3 and 4 , you have an eye opener coming.

Well, for those that know me and have came by my booth, know I use to sell all kinds of art and t-shirts.

"PORTLAND SWAMP MEAT" was a shirt I made years ago. It was a play off of the old SWAMP THING cartoon charicter, but it was holding a cam and had a ball cap on and stuff. And, just like "swamp thing", this guy looked like a skinned, wet, meaty monster. So the name developed into Swamp Meat.

Since then, everyone that knew me or knew of the shirts would refer to it as the portland swamp meat.

And yes, it all got started because back in the day, the area at the expo was not paved yet and when it rained in April, the meet turned into a swamp. Read my opening post on this thread to hear more about the swamp.

    So theres the back story!

And for what its worth, I LOVE it when it rains during the swamp meat and much prefer it over sunny days. I think it has a lot to do with 30+ years of memories and tradition. Very few meets have been sunny Im proud to say. After all, Im a native Oregonian, born with webbed feet! :)

any interest in a "lookout group" kinda deal? for example...

    1. each person posts a few things they're really looking for, and their cell #.

    2. each dude copies the compiled list of everyone's wants.

    3. if you happen to see something that someone on the list is lookin' for, ya text them the space # and maybe a short description.

    4. the person gets the text and boogies on over there. if it works out, they owe the finder a beer...

years ago a few HAMBers would do this at Pomona... covers a lot of ground that way.
i still check out the whole swap, but the heads up is sometimes pretty awesome...

  28. Looks like showers at this time so it should be sunny and warm as the weather forcasters lately have been 100% wrong with what they say! Lets hope!

Looks like we will head down Sunday Morning and hope for bargains. I was told earlier in the week that we have a command performance family related event on Saturday that we have to attend.

I need to start a list of things I really need to be hunting for this time.

Main thing on my list is a pair of 47/53 Chevy AD truck long bed running boards that are in good shape. No rusted out stuff.

  30. I'll be there Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Meeting my friend from Seattle. Heading back to Boise on Sunday. Been doing this for years. The weather makes it all the better. Dont like the weather, just wait a 1/2 hour.
