That's the one Steve. Someone had totally covered it with cheesy pipe insulation and a little bit of black tape, once that was off - *****in' roll bar. I had it sitting in my spot yesterday with the chair underneath it. Beautiful 'bar. Might look cool in my '33? The car is pretty nice still, but more street rod than hotrod. Tim :)

Unique tin boys got down there on wed, shopped too much and did our damndest to kill the fresh keg i brought to no avail! We managed to have a great time as usual. Portland has always been the one we look forward to. We couldn't sell a damn thing until we had the trailer loaded to go home and everybody decided they wanted what we had. Wich worked out since i bought a car that i didn't want to drive home. Heres a little peak at my 500 dollar score!

Im still hung over from last night yet excited for next year!!

I bought a neat 40's style headlight mount with king bees on em, new tires from Coker, some Model A junk and this nice orriginal 32 shell and insert. Got it for what I feel was a decent price. Going on the 29 roadster. Also got a nice 32 steering wheel for the roadster.

Good meeting you also. I should have just stayed home and worked on my cars but what fun would that be i would have stayed dry! Now I just have more junk to trip over in my shop.

Looks good, Chris! You must have got home and went straight to the garage.

  8. Do you guys fairly local to the swap meet notice the change since the internet?
20 years ago we would come back with tremendous scores year after year without fail, but it seems to me like the internet has made everyone more aware of what parts are and what they are worth... even then some.
We used to park by the fence and sleep in our car so we could fill the car with parts and get right back in, we didn't want to miss anything! lol

I stayed home this year, my buddy said most stuff was high priced and not "like the old days"...

I bought some rare old stuff many moons ago for next to nothing, I'm guessing those days are nearly over?

A couple of guys selling at Stockton,CA swap meet yesterday had been up in Portland selling parts there too. Boy, busy few days, but seemed to be worth the 1200 mile round trip for them.

My dad and I went on Friday and picked up a 39 standard dash for $50 and a 32 truck grille for $150. I thought that we got some pretty decent deals and had a good time.

I guess rare is a perspective. I know of some killer scores last week. The list is long, A '31 A Roadster for 1000 bucks, a 440 powered 4 speed Super Bee that was a killer deal, and some great parts for next to nothing. the most obvious items are the most visible and the most high priced - more power to those who tried. The real deals were stashed away in a hurry, and not talked about, probably not unlike the 'old days'. There were treasures, and real finds - a lot of it had to do with timing, right place/right time, and perspective. These are the good old days we will remember in the future, and there are loads and loads of good scores to still be had. For those who think it's 'over' - Cool. Makes more opportunity for those of us who are still diligent, patient and persistent. Just my .02. :)

I saw every end of the spectrum on prices on Saturday. Some that showed that the sellers had

My biggest problem outside of arriving late (11:30 on Saturday) was not writing down a list of things I really needed to look for. The 62 year old brain doesn't remember what to look for quite as well as the 32 year old brain did 30 years ago.
And after we left and were riding a big loop on a yellow bus that was ready to loose it's driveshaft Jean says "ya know, one of those hot dogs sure would be good now"

The best score I made at the show was a Don Sommers cast stainless reproduction hood ornament for the Chrysler.

I made about $800 buying stuff on Wendsday and Thursday and reselling them Friday and Saturday. Of course I spent it all. Gave out about 50 business cards.I always have a good time at portland rain or shine but particularly when its nice out. I heard Payne sold $9000 worth of stuff. His dad would have been proud.
