Does anyone have any idea what those front brakes are? I have a bunch of those aluminum drums (look the same anyway) layin' in my shed, that I think are off the rear of some 70's GM. Funny thing is I was just lookin' at them today and wondering if I could use them on the front axle of the 36 Ford truck I'm building, sort of a cheaper version of buick drums, though not quite as big and nice.

Dunno, but whatever they are, they're covering disc brakes. You can see the caliper pins pretty clear, the rest blends since it's all painted black.

I think with a chop top and a late 30's grill shell, would give it the look. Maybe Hudson Terreplane grill? Oh, and a hood to cover that motor.

Huh....I didn't think you were so closed minded! I guess it's that whole west coast can't step out of the box thing.

To say the car has no thought for taste ,style or thought is rediculous. You must not know cars as well as you think you do. There was plenty of thought put into the car. There is lots of style just not the style that we all are used to. It's just different. At least he is brave enough to step outside the box and build something new and different.

How pissed are you gonna be when your RPU is done and everybody says it looks just like the Pinky built RPU? Can't say that about Posie's stuff.

And just for the record I have no connections to Posie. Not sure how much he really likes me. I've pissed him off a few times. I just respect him as a innovative builder.

  6. I love everything Posies does! I would not/could not come up with any of the designs myself, and there is something I would change about every one.
BUT, in my humble opinion he is one of the few inovators in this hobby who never repeats himself. He calls his cars statements and they are exactly that. The main thing I enjoy about his statements is that they are loaded with subtle details, and are executed in a tasteful way.

Just was on Posie's website and for those who wanted some more info on the drivetrain, the Driven Dirty Tour article had a bit of info....

"Posies and his Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, shop crew were thrashing to finish a chopped ‘47 Chevy Fleetline Aerosedan with a Roush-built, supercharged 300-cube Ford inline-6 sporting three sets of exhaust headers and triple tailpipes. The shrunken sedanette’s narrowed body, on a tubular frame, with Super Slide leaf spring suspension, boasted
one-off billet “Divco” style wheels and Excelsior
racing tires — and no fenders. Finished in flat
blue paint, with rivets and reveals for looks, the
“Fleetliner” fastback looked like a Bugatti
Atlantic that had spent a bit too much time with Darth Vader"

One thing I respect about the guy is that we were there on a rainy, drizzly day and the Fleetliner sat outside the whole time and had a little bit of road or at least parking lot dirt on it, including the floor mat, which got dirty from Posie hoping inside several times to fire the 6 up... my point being that it obviously took a lot of time and effort to build a car such as this, and he's not afraid to get it wet or dirty... and I like that... would've liked to see it lay a stripe down the roadway, but ehh.. we can't have everything... :)

It was built for these guys.

They love it, and that's all that matters.

I like all the details of the car it looks great up close If you just saw the photos except the first and last ones, but when you step back and see the whole car I think the proportions are pretty ugly. My only other complaint is the plaid I like plaid but that kind is just ugly.
I say leave it how it is but ad 50% to the width and take 10" out of the wheelbase also dump the blue/yellow plaid and maybe some cool fenders and I would drive it. on the other hand if you gave me a green Gremlin-X I would drive that too.

  11. Yeah, it's an East Coast/West Coast thang, Tupac :p.

    Thanks,

Whether you agree with his style or not, thank goodness he is doing his part to bring back that oft-forgotten lawn chair fabric. (Props to NITROFC for the pic)

Kurt...my bad! There's a lot of California HAMBers that don't fit the California steriotype.

  15. I have a good friend who is also friends with Posie and he told me that during the build of this car that Posie had called him after he had taken 14 inches out of the middle of the Chevy and said "damn this thing is ugly" I think he probably has reservations just like the rest of us as our projects are coming together, but he presses on. He also said recently that maybe he should have only taken 10 inches out of it as he has to lean up on one cheak to get the door closed!:) I too am not a big fan of most of his build styles, but after meeting him and getting to know him better, he really is just one of us, maybe not a HAMBr, but certainly a hot rodder. I was most impressed how he had finished his "Thunder Road" pick up and he and his wife left for California the next day with it with 0 miles on it. He does drive his shit. He's been on several Americruise's etc. etc. All I know is that he's been doing it longer than I have and he's makeing a living at it so he must be doing something right!:D

This is why I love the HAMB. A car that not many seem to like gets talked about so much. He built the car his way, just like most of us do.
Good or bad we come here for the love of cars.

If it will help I will find a pic of a model A with a 32 grill shell.

LOL! I really do love this site Thanks to all and Ryan.

i wonder if that poor fleetline ever thought it would be re-incarnated into that? i'm sorry but, if someone other than posie built that car, we'd be firing up the torches and carrying pitch forks and rope looking for the builder!

The Fleetliner's one of my fave's of Posies rides. He has a "vision" that is further ahead of many...because he can equally do Street Rods as well as Customs.

He's not afraid to get his cars dirty, works on his own cars, PLUS he's a GREAT story teller.

If you wanna hear Posies story on how the FLEETLINER got cut in half, and about a few other projects of his, you can simply click-on this link: http://www.legends.thewwbc.net/gpage99.html
