We call them "Posers" in this neck of the woods. They tried to duplicate our club member Mikey's extra cab Model A pickup. Ours has a built flattie and the roof barely hits your waist. The one they built was a cash cow and still couldn't nail the look. Nice try posers;)

  2. That's why I said much earlier in this thread that Ed Roth is looking down laughing and saying, "They just don't get it". As someone else said, Ed also sneered.

Posie is Posie and does what Posie does. Period. He is building for himself and for those that have the money for what he builds. I know two people who own 3 of his cars and they are very well built cars. Way out of my league and not quite what I would build or have built. But the quality of the workmanship is beyond reproach.

What gets me is, as someone else stated, how we can trash any particular build then get offended when our particular form of build is trashed. I know, I know, I've heard it before and said it myself. I don't care what anyone says about my car. Right, like you enjoy a thumbs down as much as a thumbs up when you cruise down the street.
Again, I know, some really don't care. I don't but I sure don't want any thumbs down so my cars aren't built to be a thumbs down car. Then again, it all depends on one's POV.
All this back and forth on Posie's latest build isn't solving anything at all. It is what it is. A form of artwork in metal. Not everybody sees the same thing in the same piece of artwork or sculpture hanging on a wall for put on a pedestal.
    Off my soap box.

Not Wrong. And you don't have to yell, you can make people cry that way. And that leads to an akward moment here in my shop. Bandit and road agent are timeless. If bubble tops never existed before and Roth came around today and built those cars that way, I Believe* it would just be an eye-opener. Bandit has never been uncool because it has taste and style. There are plent of jerks on the Hamb that would bash it, but there would be those of us that love it. Littleman was not run off when he built Deaths Doorstep. The Posies guy would not be run off if he showed up here either. There are plenty of us on this thread that like the "Euroliner" just fine.

    * As in opinion. Not fact. Opinion.

I'll reserve my comments until I see it completed. Most likely nearly all builders have had one or more screw ups in their repertoire over their careers. My all time favorite Posie built car was the 37 Sweptback (I know, I know, it's a streetrod and not a traditional or a hotrod), all others since have have ranged from good to not real good. :(

Other builders, both famous and imfamous, have done some way out things that are not readily acceptable to the hordes of car aficionados. It could be that Posies just seems to be on a run of strange products.:D Hopefully he will soon run out of weird ideas.

Interesting car, I guess, looked better at the start of the thread, dont do much for me in final dress. I tend to agree more with Mr. Lee, guys like Foster and Webb do more to motivate/stimulate my taste more, which seems to be much more in line with the taste of this forum in general, and why I subscribe and contribute here than other places. Does that make me/us sheep, I dont think so - just what style I/we lean towards - which this car doesnt really represent IMO

Jesus, man. Why is this still here? The Golden Sub is 10x the car this thing is and everyone is ranting about this thing? Sheesh. People need their heads checked.

Posie has no followers??? Look at every one of the hundreds of '36 Ford customs that are being built today. They may not be consciously following the lead of of his late-70s' 36 full custom build (back when no one was doing that sort of thing), but he undeniably started a trend with that one (even if it did take some of the sheep 20 years to jump on that bandwagon).

Amen to that. And how about the two tones that break at unusual places, like the red and black cars? Wish I had a dollar for every copy of that. Some of you guys need to get out in the real world more often.

Ah, the drama is because it isn't a black three window with a Heavy axle and a designer flathead. Or a clapped out bucket of rust with an oil leaking hemi, exposed welds on the over done chop job.

If you back up and take a look at it this group tends to be pretty narrow minded when it comes to what is done in the way of modifying a vehicle and also by who happens to do it. If the car had been built within 50 miles of Austin or in the bay area some of the same detractors would be falling all over themselves raving about it.

Personally I like most of it. As in ninety percent of the vehicles around there area couple of things I would change but nothing major. But then for the past 50 years I have admired those low slung luxury styled cars out of the coach builders of Europe and the US.

I'm not big on copying anyone else and never will build or own a clone of another vehicle nor will I build a cookie cutter car just because someone says that to be a traditional rod or custom it "has" to be that way or else.
When my truck comes out as a finished rig again it will honor the custom shops of the 50's shop trucks but won't be a clone nor will it be 100% period correct. But from fifty or a hundred feet away it will have "the look".

I've often wondered if Ken got that red and black idea from my Riley at Hershey, he did spend time looking at it. That '38 just changed hands a few years ago from a guy up here. The coupe was a real good looking car.

True, I don't care about being different, but if it's ugly it's ugly.

The ***le said Posies, and I just cringed.

I'm sorry, but it's off to the re-education camps for you. The supercillious squad has deemed your opinion inconsistent with the way they believe you should think, ergo, lots of talent and attention to detail automatically means you must accept it as wholesome and good if not beautiful. You will be ***imilated ala Clockwork Orange.

It's naughty to have your own opinion.

So last Saturday a friend of mine is traveling the PA turnpike. Sees an odd car, snaps a pic with his cell and sends it to me. All week long we've been trying to figure out what it is...

We're pretty sure it's Posies Euroliner all done on its way to Dayton to start the 2008 Driven Dirty tour.

Wow, the finished product is not what I was expecting from the build photos. My first reaction was WTF? Because I was expecting something that was more hot rod, as his past cars.

I think it is pretty cool for the style of car it emulates. Look at that type of car from that era in Europe... any of them. They are all kinda "goofy" stylistically. This one is no different. I think it was a pretty successful attempt to build something similar, but with a touch of "hot rod" thrown in. That is some bad *** metalwork there.

To me, it looks like it just rolled off the set of that old Tony Curtis movie "the great race"

Not sure if it emulates the Vintage Euro Cars very succesfully....

At the time Dutch did that car........that type of build was not the norm. Was it the first absolutely not, But it did preempt the current or even earlier shift to the traditional custom!!!!!

What a farce. I'll remember that next time Big Olds has a mechanical issue. I'll throw him on a "stretcher" and haul him to the HAMB Drags or whereever anyway and he can pose all weekend dirty from the open trailer.

Is debuting a dirty car something to be proud of?? I thought I had an open mind regarding do whatever you want with you car but give me a ****ing break. Trailering a car then debuting it dirty just does not make ANY sense to me.
