Some prefer to think of it as "Variable Patina" (tm).

Once this fad catches on all the mainstream magazines will be
running "tech features"on how to achieve this new effect.

Putting it on a "stretcher" was not a choice Posie wanted.
Finding out that the new Ford Racing crate motor was "belly up" was not what Posie wanted.
Posie made a commitment to have his new car in the Haneline booth at SEMA. It's there. He could have left it at the shop, and I'm sure he would have received grief from some of you because he didn't live up to his part of the agreement. Give me a break.....

HIS choice was to leave it dirty, because even though it was on a stretcher (once again forced to be trailered) it WAS part of the Driven Dirty Tour.

  6. I'm okay with it, its sometimes nice to see a different direction once and a while as long as the work is clean, not thrown togather rat rod 'found objects' high school art cl***. seems like its going well.

  7. Seems Posie is happy with the end result. Isn't that what it's all about?

I prefer a shot with a beer chaser!!!!! I really am a pretty laid back guy!!!!! My dander gets stirred up when people trash or disrespect others (whether I know them or not) on this board. I've been around long enough to have thick skin; I just don't see the need to **** with people!!!!

I think I'll get back to that pint and a 6-pak!!!!!

Posie is a person you really dont want to know. You feel icky after meeting him, that is if he feels he will stoop low enough to talk to the "little" man. To quote Bill Murray in the movie "What about Bob" we are just like ropes on the good year blimp next to Posie. (aka Ken Fenical) I have had close ties to folks that he has ripped off over the years. Another reason to hate eastern PA.

To Hiboy32: According to your post, you had from Friday to Tuesday (you left on Wed. for your show) to get your motor replaced. Posie found out Friday the motor was bad and was leaving the next morning. No time to even get anything overnighted.

You need to do a little research before you make unfounded comments. He drove the Speed Queen '32 pick up all the way last year.

To ken1939: Posie happens to be a person I have happened to have learned a lot from. I was, and still am, one of what you call a "little" man. I'm a street rodder/hot rodder/car builder/parts manufacturer (whatever ***le you want to ***ign to me).

With regards to Posie "supposedly" having ripped some of your buddies off over the years, this forum isn't the place to air "dirty laundry". You (or your buddies) need to talk DIRECTLY to Ken, not a "3rd party" such as the HAMB. The HAMB, can't rectify the problem, dealing with Ken can. Not knowing the details, or caring to know for that matter, business decisions are made according to a stated business policy. I've had guys try to return modifed parts for a full refund. I don't take back modified parts, nor does any other business. If it was a simple deal such as a mislabeled part (it happens) businesses are happy to have happy customers and will swap out the part without any problems. My being in business for the better part of 25 years, I've found that good news spreads, bad news spreads even faster. I do what I can, with in reason, to satisfy my customers. But don't come to me 3 years later and start to complain about one of my grilles. I give you ample time (6 months) to fit the grille to your car, because I realize cars are not put together over night. If you can't pull the grille out of the box and check fit it with in 6 months, that becomes your problem-not mine. You have to set some kind of cut off time, otherwise the customer could try to came back to me, 1 year-2 years- 5 years- 20 years later and ask for a replacement-just because they want a new one. I have an '04 truck. I like the styling of the '08 trucks. Do you think the truck manufacturer will give me a new truck just because the truck I bought is now outdated?

As far as your "another reason to hate eastern PA" comment, I advise you seek professional counseling. You seem to have "issues".

I like it- it's a rolling artwork! Is it traddional?- no,and it really ain't a hotrod. Do I care? Not a bit! The creativity and outstanding fabrication; daring to be different makes it a valid post here, in my opinion. As far as going on a 'stretcher' to SEMA, so what? It had to be there and the Ford motor can't be fixed overnight (wonder why ford is having so much financial trouble... and GM and Chrysler), so haul the beast, that's what I'd have done. My only nitpic with it is that I would have put a Straight Eight in it, even if I'd had to build it- that would be traditional! If I make over to the "Dirty Side", I'll definitely stop in to see Posie's shop just to see if he's at it again and egg him on.
How many of you "critiques" have or have had any of your work in a SEMA show? That might be an iteresting thread to start.

Just my opinions folks, your experience will /is probably be dfferent!

    I'm just curious......
Why when Posie has to trailer his car to SEMA, he gets "called out" and "bad mouthed" etc, but when Kirk takes May Cause Dangerous (a running car) on a trailer no one says anything......

    Just sayin........

Because he didn't try to "fool" anyone by leaving it dirty so it looks like it was driven. He's PROUD of his awesome paint job and wants to show it off and what better way to do that then to have a CLEAN car.

Trailering a car is not an issue with me, especially heading to an indoor event in Nov. What I have an issue with is displaying a dirty car and making statments that you were on a "Driven Dirty Tour"....Call it what is was, Trailered and Displayed Dirty Tour.

I love all you guys..... most of you are frequent posters here and I know that most ( except the guy that called Posie a pussie ) are inteligent people. I also know that many of you that are reading this thread "get it"!!!! and have absorbed all the info offered here. He has never said that he drove it this time , quite the opposite. Tossing it on an open trailer and maintaining the spirit of the PDDT is what he did. By the way, I don't hear anyone tossing rocks at the other guys that broke down on the way and ended up on open trailers to complete the trip!!!! They too displayed their cars dirty!!!

Another thing that gets me is that Posie is actually an advocate for all of us!!! He builds his own cars with the absolute conviction to drive the tires off of them!!!! And is attempting to show that conviction to the rest of the public by organizing the tour!!! Isn't that what most of us are all about. He's a business man and in this case is taking his lumps for having to trailer the Euroliner to SEMA in order to uphold a commitment. Trust me when I tell ya, that this wasn't a choice he wanted to make and after he told me that this maybe the best riding car he has ever built,I'm sure he is more disappointed than any of you know!!!!

Because we're HAMBers and that's what we do. I've seen more unwarrented bashing on this board than just about any place I've ever visited. My take is a lot of it is "pack mentality". When someone posts a negative opinion it serves as cover for anyone else that MIGHT have an opinion but wouldn't post it but for the cover provided by a "name" HAMBer. One of the interesting things about this place, it's no different than any bunch of guys hanging out and getting caught up in the moment. I've been guilty myself and invite anyone to step up and deny they have never had it happen to them. Sainthood line forms at the right.:)

This thread is a train wreck.

Does anyone have any good pictures of the finished product? I would really like to see them.

The nancyboy smallblock V8 ruins it as a total package- should have put in some sort of retarded DOHC inline 6 or 8. You know, something to really torque off the rusted Maltese pre'64 Stasi.
I've never been a fan of the boattail on anything, really- should have made it a humpback and drooped the rear of the rear fenders. Otherwise, it's ok. I'm a bit confused about the pre'64 Stasi getting their ******* all wadded up about it, though, since (as has been said many times) it's not even targeted at them. Oh well, guess I still haven't read my handbook...

I agree... This thread is a train wreck.

I saw the car & I wish that I had thought of doing it 1st. Posie's craftsmanship is 1st rate & the design is timeless!

Love it or hate it, it's still unique.

Honestly I would have driven it, but I don't know much about the motor and I sure wasn't going to have it break down and miss the banquet.

I tried to drive it home, but was talked out of it by a few people who want it to stay nice for the 2009 indoor season. It's still in Vegas.

It will be trailered to all of the winter's west coast indoor events, then it will be driven long and hard next summer...Indy, Columbus, Des Moines, Del Mar, Puyallup.

I've stayed away from this thread as I really don't want to get into a ******* match with anyone over what Dutch does or builds. I know him personally and have my own thoughts about him. But they are mine and only mine!

What matters is the car that he built and that was on display at SEMA. It is just freaking outstanding! Period, end of story. I wish I had half the talent Dutch does, no make that 1/10th and I would be a happy man.

I don't know any of the drama concerning the trailer and the engine that wouldn't run, or any of the other irritations that crawl up everyone's *** when his name gets mentioned, but this latest car is the best he has done in years. I would like to see it all shined up however, as it should be exhibited looking its beat.

Just my opinion, take it for what it's worth.

    John

PS - In case anyone thinks I'm a big personal fan of Dutch, PM me and I'll tell it like it is...

I like it. At first I hated it. I always appreciated the details of his cars. But didn't really like the outcome. This one I think I "get" and just plain think it looks good. I think it looks like one of the blower Bentleys but with a roof. Part of the appeal to me is those cars are sort of ugly. They have barbs and things that look like they don't quite belong, but overall they work for me. I would drive the wheels off the thing and smoke some fools at stop lights and no one would know what it is. Maybe some autocross would be fun!

I like it.Car is unique and built to owners taste. Not a cookie car car for sure.Maybe if he put wide whites on it here some of the "purists" might go for it-I doubt it..
