Maybe a zephyr grille? My first thought was cut it off at the firewall and it would make a neat teardrop trailer.
I like it, i mean i really like it! I dunno if I'd call it a "hot rod" though. It appeals to me more as a one off coach built car from the 30's. With a change of wheels and the right grill it could be a car that's remembered years from now. I wish I had the balls, money, talent, equiptment, and state of mind to build something like that!
Well, I think I will try ugly. A down and dirty zephyr front. I think the 37 front would be better, but I can't find one. The 37 actually would flow into the beltline. I ***led my jpeg "abortion"
I just don't see how it could possibly be uglier. Maybe if you painted it pink. I squeezed something out this morning that looked just like it, except mine had corn in it. That thing should be tied to the Shark A.t.t.a.k. with bailing wire and thrown into the Pacific Ocean.
yeah the side profile kinda kills it for me, i usually like their stuff. i wonder what it would look like with fenders
Some of us already have worked for him.... I was there when he designed the "phunkie32" at the picnic table, outside the shop.. and I had the oppertunity to work on some of his other cars and a damn boat..... like this car or not.. you can steal ALOT of great ideas If when you see it in person, you study the details.. given wheelkids response.. I bet these photos are pretty old.. and based on the posies website this car should be in ohio today...
I'm not sayng its the ugliest I've ever seen or the prettiest, however I like it. More so since I looked at the pictures on Posies site. The rear suspension is over the frame and a lot of other ideas got my attention. It was suggested that a bunch of HAMBER's get together and design the car. Well the world doesn't need another flat black, mexican blanket, pre 40's Ford. And those that were not offended by that, the world doesn't need another small block powered 'gl*** kit car or Tri-Five Chevy. There I just alienated myself from all spectrums of Hot Roding Street Roding or whatever its being called now.
Looks like a florida hack job. Great details, and i'm sure the fit and finish will be amazing, but those beetles with beam axles have the look down better.
I agree that Posies gets a lot of points for big balls, but I don't think he's hit a home run since that yellow '37 about 15 years ago. If this thing were mine, I'd shorten the wheelbase by moving the rear axle forward about 6", add a track nose and hood (Pierson coupe?), and fix the pinhead look of the windshield. Yeah, so what?
The guy's no copy-cat. I'll give 'im that. I'm actually a big fan of the Fleetline and hope to have one someday to cut-up and go in a completely different direction... And although I REALLY don't like it, if I were walking by it at a show I'd have to stop and check out the details for a while. I still wouldn't do that though. I have to agree to disagree on this one. This car, like his others, will develop a following. It's the beginning of a trend on which he'll be able to capitalize. Good metal traditional rod material is getting harder and harder to come by - and next to impossible for Joe Builder with a family on a budget. The alternatives in rod-dom will be to go 'gl*** or grab a low-cost body for cheap that's 10 years newer. We're starting to see it even on this board. '50's truck-turned-rod "Whaddaya think" questions, some being built and pics shared. I surprised myself and liked the black one that was recently posted. It seems like it's his next step after the "Aeroliner Sport". Now there's a car that flows. .
I never thought I'd learn so many different ways to politely call something "ugly as hell". I'll remember them for for the next time I catch up with a mate with an ugly girlfriend.
i thought it looked ok from the front, well kind of ? but dont like the side view at all! im sure craftsmenship is un sirpased thow but what the hell do i know
There are always aspects of Posie's builds that I would rather see done differently. I'm sure that if I ever built anything, there would be aspects of MY build that Posie would like to see be done differently. Point being, his craftsmanship cannot be questioned. He does fantastic work. His creativity also, can't be questioned. (like it or not!) His style and overall "flow??"..........that is just a matter of personal taste. You like it? Fine. You don't? Fine. It's still exciting to see what will roll out of his shop next. I CAN tell you this. Ken is a HOT RODDER from waaay back. He LOVES HOT RODS! I have attended a few of his open houses with Clark, Scary and the SoWhat crew and as crowded as they are, Posie always finds time to stop and talk with Clark and in fact, grab his camera and go outside in the cold and shoot a ****load of detail shots of Clark's vehicles. He NOTICES the little details in CLARK'S work. Hot Rodder to Hot Rodder, there is a mutual respect. High $$ to Lo Buck, the respect is still there. I think THAT is cool...............
Well - I don't know. Looks like it's very well built, but everything he does seem to be. Sawsall is right lots of great ideas! Steped out of the box - For sure - But! It's the first time I ever saw someone take a very nicely proportioned American beauty and transform it to something looking like a very out of proportion European whatever. Proportions would have been better if they started with a Volvo, Saab, VW, Tatra, Peugeot or any number of Euro cars from back in the day.
