Placed an add in the Whowon.com classifieds to sell a Street Stock dirt track car and this is a reply I received

My name is john i am an auto dealer who live uk but
have companies in some europe countries,i buy goods
for my clients.let me know the cost of your car and it present condition because my client is really in need of it. Reply Asap

I've already heard about some scams coming out of Europe. Why would they want a dirt track car like mine in Europe and should I answer this guy? Any insight on this would be appreciated.

  2. SCAM city.

Next he'll want to wire you money on behalf of his "client" in an amount larger than the purchanse price and then ask you to return the difference in cash, check etc. A few weeks later you find out that the money he "sent" was no good and you're out a couple of thousand in purchase price plus the extra you refunded.

It has nothing to do with him wanting the item, just that it's high dollar. If you do any advertising on the internet, expect to get e-mail from these assholes.

  3. this has been covered loads of times on here......UNLESS YOU GET THE CASH IN YOUR HAND....tell him to FUCK OFF...check out the UK NSRA forum from time to time and this turns up so regular it`s getting boring...

Thanks folks, I thought it sounded kinda fishy although I didn't know how it would work when I'm the seller. Surf monkey, since you are already over there, if I can find out where this guy is, will you run over and whup all the shit out of him for wasting my time?

Yip definate scam. Funny thing is when we get them in the UK the fella says he is from some other country ... Anyways .. Last one o got i sent a reply in big letters saying .. "no thanks, But now you have opened this e mail i have a track on your ISP address. This is now being passed to all law enforcement agencies. I trust you will enjoy prison food. now go Fu*% yourself"...

since then i have advertised freely and had no further problens from these crooks

  6. nice one red.....i`m sure when it happens over here the fuckers claim to come from either holland or belgium...where ever they come from i would imagine if you `sold` it to `em it would turn up in a car show in japan or somewhere [IMG]

surf monkey hit the nail on the head! twice!

    1. there are now TWO current posts about this exact topic

    2. if anybody offers anything other than cash, do not go near them!!!

i just sold my last car friday and the guy brought a duffle bag full of cash. i'm such a cautious sonofabitch i made him sit there while i counted it AND checked each bill with a counterfeiting pen to make sure they were all real! eleven thousand dollars worth of 20's and 50's!
avoid anyone who says anything other than yes! protect yourselves damnit!

Well, I went back and read the other threads with "scam" in the title and I if I had read them before, then there would have been no need for this thread. I have a very limited amount of time to hang out on the boards so I probably miss a lot of good stuff and I mainly try to pick the topics in which I might be able to provide some info that may help. Although I do frequent alot of boards, the folks on this one are by far the most savvy. I just emailed this lowlife back that I don't have a bank account and if he wants the car, he can show up with $2500 in US dollars and a trailer and he can take it with him. I doubt I will hear from again. Thanks again and I apologize for the redundacy.
