Little update on mine. New floor behind the engine. Edit: additional picture. Yes, it will get a new dash and firewall later.
Update for those following. Got the body in Black primer and the bed more level. Still have to patch up the wiring and finish both pedals for this Friday and hoping the front Cragars are badly out of balance and can be straightened out so it doesn't get wobble. Still haven't pulled the trigger on expensive fixes like the wheels, windshield and gas tank, but more ugly wiped off. Everything is dusty, but will be cleaning things up.
@patman I've had these, BUT they are too big 'n heavy. Had them balanced but one is pretty out of round. It has death bounce over 35 MPH. I wanted it to look better with the fresh primer, so eased it over to the meet. Still looking for appropriate reasonable wheels and tires. @squirrel , thanks! Noticed a mess up on my part after I got there which will have to be fixed, but it did receive a number of complements. EDIT: the bed somehow ended up crooked, which can be seen in this photo. Redid the holes and it's straight now. The Buick was pretty neat. A 1924 4 door sedan cut down to a 2 door roadster with suicide doors, parallel leafs at all 4 corners, 1964 nailhead, 5 speed manual. I didn't get a good overall shot of it. It was zee'd in front of the firewall.
Looking good! Keep after it! Gotta be some better used Cragars out there that you can use. I really like the Buick tub, just seems so righteous. I'm not so much a Buick fanatic, I just prefer homogeneous hot rods. At least if the body manufacturer had a good engine at some point. I know I'm a hypocrite in that I drive a Willys with a Ford engine, but 61 HP wasn't going to get it. I have a dream of something similar to this Buick, but in Studebaker form (289 Stude power). Maybe someday....Thanks.
Not sure if this really counts as a "T- bucket" it is a 1927 model T build from the mid 70's '66 289 out of a mustang.
Yeah, it was well thought out. Had 4 Webber downdrafts on it, wires with knock offs at each corner, the guy had the same problem as I do, staring right at the top bar. He bought it from the builder, so that particular fit wasn't anyone's fault, he's just tall. I keep looking, just haven't found anything yet. It will happen. @Galaxidan Glad to have more posts here! I keep feeling like I'm bogging it down with my little project. I'd classify it as a roadster, but this has been discussed in almost every thread on these and there are opinions that range broadly.
Father n Son " Lance"build,23T,hunted up a few piles of parts, others had gave up on,so. 23 T glass Body was used a lot an pretty ruff=Must of been used on 3 or more rods, from extra holes an many def. paint color layer. Cleaned it back to as near to nothing as could, patched holes. Started over. Home made frame n hairpins an so on ! We did paint an upholstery as well all at home. Son learned a lot n had great fun. Found the gals really liked to site in it,an ride if they could.
@swade41 thanks! I appreciate you posting a couple with the skinny Cragars too, so I can see how they fit the cars. The first one, Brown with the top would be similar to what it would have, the 15x7 from the front in the rear and the skinny ones in front. Skinny Cragars 15x4.5, 22 pounds shipping weight so the same as steel wheels, and 300 each! https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Crag...C-S-S-Wheel-15x4-5-Inch-5x4-75-BP,464439.html Between wheels and tires along with the gas tank, I've got some spending to do. Still keeping an eye out on CList, but nothing's been close. Other stuff has been taking up mental and time recently.
I was going to do a search for a picture that I hadn't seen before to drop in here. I found that a ton of T bucket pictures are listed from here. I also was reminded that I should have a list of the different threads about them. So here's a start. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/the-t-bucket-list.1013968/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/60s-style-t-buckets.272376/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/how-about-some-love-for-the-t-bucket.1229552/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/traditional-t-bucket.674191/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/t-buckets-with-white-walls.1151039/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/really-cool-t-buckets.46905/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/t-buckets-hamb-friendly-or-not.698836/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/t-buckets-can-be-cool.224290/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/pictures-of-traditional-t-buckets.158410/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/t-buckets-true-costs.691141/ https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/what-t-bucket.1244236/
I've got some decisions to make, mostly pushed by finances. I've got 4 of the same fronts. Same tires. I've also got some big and little slot mags. All need tires. Also lots of old steelies. Also will need tires. However, all of those are 5 lug, 4.5 inch pattern. The front is 5x4.5, but the Olds rear has been modified from 5x5 to 5x4.75 and the studs welded. EDIT: also the rear studs are Ford/Mopar size (1/2" x20), not chevy size (7/16" x 20). So the Cragar unilug fit, and the huge centerlines it came with fit (dual pattern), but I don't have much else in Chevy 4.75 pattern. I did buy a pair of 14x7s, but no nice tall (28-29 tall) tires are around. So I either modify the rear axles again to 4.5, or find some matching Chevy rear wheels, and also buy tires so it has rolling stock over the winter. OR buy some other stuff that it also needs and keep looking for used stuff. It did ride well today. It likes round tires! They are big and heavy for this, visually and weight wise, but I have limited time left this year for taking it out, so I'll leave them.
It does come down to a financial decision quite often when building them for many of us unfortunately. At least that is true in my experience.
