    whats up hamber's, this is a great sight. I have 4 projects going at once, two chevies and two pontiacs. All post models cars and all hotrods. Thanks

    Welcome, I too am new to H.A.M.B. great site, noticed your projects, I've done a few of these to say the least. I've got quite a collection of misc. 57 parts 4 sale, should you be looking for a certain something, let me know, I'd be glad to help.

    Hey guys,

    Relative newbie here again. Can you explain to me why a '57 Chevy, complete with fins, would be called a shoebox? I thought a true shoebox was a '49/50 Ford. Just curious.

    my pontiacs are a 68 tempest and a 72 ventura and a 57 chevy 2door wagon.

    The 49/50 fords were the original "shoebox",then it seemed anything with a big frontal area was refered to this way,after the introduction of pro mod drag cars.:confused:

    Thanx, 29. Hmmm. Interesting. Kinda strange evolution, eh? If anything, I think the Fords earned the term from their squarish greenhouse and rear end, in particular; the front end, not so much. (But then I'm the design nut.) Ah well. As they say, usage is king.... :rolleyes:
