    Question??

..If you could have any car back which one would it be?

For me its the "Jado Special" 34' Ford Coupe....

Built at Harvey Aluminum in 1952

Went 187 mph in 53' ...Banned by the S.C.T.A in 1954(they banned all short wheel based Rear engine cars..Due to a couple deaths)

Gray Baskerville told me he saw it run in 53' and it was "Hands Down the Baddest flathead motor ever" (Ran on 100%)

I bought it from Doyle Gammel in 1993(He ran it in the 70's & 80's as a Fuel Alterd with a BIG Reath Pontiac)

Couldn't afford to properly restore it..

I donated it to the Peterson Museum in 95' (tax write-off)

    Regretted it ever sense.

Ryan probably has some Better history details and pic's.....

I think it makes the Pearson Coupe look like a fuck'n Pussy car....Just my opinion.......

I had a 1960 Plymouth Suburban wagon when I was in high school. It was a super nice car with some cool options (like that really cool square steering wheel!) No pics, though. :( Unfortunately, my Dad talked me into trading it for a couple of loads of driveway shells! That was dumb!

Wicked!!!..........Did it just have a clutch can hooked direct to the rearend? No gears just basically high gear and no reverse.....Thanks, Littleman ...I will add if I could have one back...it would be the car I built in High School my 68 Mid engine Chevelle. Pulled the engine out and had it crushed before I left for Army Basic training...it would have killed someone, but would love to have it back since it was my first attempt at building what I could think of......

Built in 1986 and banned from school property after the first time I drove it to school..he he he...Littleman

Well mine would be the Dick Kraft/Highland Plating Special. My father flew to Ca in 1974 and drove the T back to NJ, it's the first car I learned to drive on when I was 6 years old, it was the only thing I could reach the pedals on, the pedals were real tight together down in little floor pan tubs, my father ran the car and sold it in the mid eighties for $16,000, it stayed local for another 20 years and it has been through two owners since then and I beleiev Kirk White bartered a deal from it's previous owner to it's latest owner, I would love to have it back but I don't think the bank account will ever let that happen, my sister still has scars on her legs from the pipes from 30 years ago. One of these days I will have to dig out some old pictures and get them scanned.

Never been to the Peterson Museum but it's good to know that, when I do, there'll be cars like that for me to drool over. I say clone it and have some fun! You did the right thing donating it. (easy for me to say).

  11. One that I built my old 54 Buick. I wish I had it back, I would re do it the right way, actually finish the Carson top...I loved this car

Another car i didn't actually own but came very, very close to buying was this 55 Pontiac Starchief. I would give anything, even my srt8 Magnum for it...well maybe not that but almost anything

I haven't let too many of them get away that I actually owned. I guess that's why I have no room and no money to finish any of them.

I should have kept my '56 Cadillac, but it went to a good home in sweden, where it was fixed up nicely.

If I had been on the ball I probably could have traded my '70 LT-1 vette for a '66 350/327 4spd convertable.. I should have done that, but oh well.

A '41 Ford PU that I got from a farmer for $500 in 1984 when I was a junior in HS. I spent about a year getting it on the road, then my folks sold it to get some money back that I owed them. The ass that bought it never paid them for it though! He (one of my mom's hillbilly relatives from NM) just took it away with a promise to pay and never did. It has a 283, gennie 4" dropped axle and I converted the rear to transverse leafs. I made the dash panel out of a street sign that I unbolted one night!

Well, I never owned it, always just barely out of reach,.. A friend found this true 50's survivor Deuce coupe in 1975, I was one of the truly rare guys in the mid 70's that was dogmatic about preserving original Hot Rods,.. I sold my Hot Rod and was trying to raise the rest of the money for this Deuce, when he sold it to a guy with the $6,500.00 cash (the asking price),... seems like over the next couple years I was just one step behind it when I found it was sold to someone else,... finally a kid bought it,... and built a Graffiti clone out of it !
This car still gives me chills,...

Harms Way, shame about it getting cloned.

I miss my 59 El Camino so much. I sold it in 1992 for $1650 to buy the engine for my shovelhead, it was a 348 tri-power stick shift car. I fucked up so bad, the air cleaner is worth more than that.

Mine would be my first car, a '75 Duster 440. Sold it in 1991 when I moved to Arizona from St.Louis. That thing ran TITS!
11.2 in the quarter, normally aspirated dual Carters. 727 trans I built myself, and a 4.10 posi rear

Hey Jesse- Doyle was over sharing old pictures at my shop the other day, we talked a long time about the Jada car. I remember when he was running it. Totally bad ass! Interesting that it had a totally different nose originally - but the aluminum company wanted to show and built a second one. You could clone the early version and have one bad ass car that everyone would appreciate and not have to erase all the history of the later version.

  20. Sellers remorse?
    1970 'Cuda Convertible. Gran Coupe.
Only because I could pay off my mortgage with it at today's prices.

The car I really miss is the 53 Studebaker I had.
I feel better knowing it's surrounded by a nice collection of Studebakers.

I wish we could have hung on to this one. An ex T/F car my Dad and his friend used to mess around with when they were my age. It got sold about 6 years ago, then we saw it at the HRR being flat towed behind a pick-up truck ...most of the goodies were missing by then.

  22. I had bought a '65 Plymouth Fury III Sport when I first enlisted in the Navy. It had a clean body and interior. A strong 384 and 4 speed. But with a bad clutch and no where to work on the car, I got rid of it for some more "reliable" transportation.

Yep, that's the one I would want back...

  23. That Jado car looks a like small red bomb no wonder you liked it. :D

For me it's the '64 GTO ex-race car I bought on the South side of Chicago back in 1986 when I was in college. I bought the car for $1450, it was a 49,000 body and had a 327ci and TH350 in there. Had the word "Insanity" pinstriped on the rear quarters. Sadly I had to sell the car so I could afford food and books and.. cigarettes. I heard the car is in Oak Park and was repainted the original red. I'd like to hear from anyone who knows the car as I would consider buying it back.

  26. I've owned 300+ cars, but the ones that stand out seem to be from my drinking, street racing days in the late 50's early 60's. yet if I could just have one it would be my 374 Packard powered 51 Olds 88 club coupe (black) I only have 2 photo's and they are slides, the 40+ years in the middle is a blur. the 4 projects that I have now are all keepers

  27. I want my '59 back. The new owner and I signed a contract stating that it would be offered to me first if he ever decides to sell. Hope I have the funds if that ever happens. I originally bought the car from a Hamber in Norcal

REALLY miss my 36 Dodge ALOT. I sold it to a guy in Germany and have had regret every day since.

  29. I have several that I want back.

The 49 Fleetline that I got off of Hack, rebuild it with a deep channel on an S10 frame, and new driveline, then got mad at it and sold it way too cheap. I want it back so I can finish it and enjoy it. Stupidest thing I have done with a car.

I also miss the 68' Dart GTS vert', the 66' GTO tripower Vert, and the 67' Pontiac Lemans Sport Convertable that was running a 389 tripower. All those cars were great.

I'm kicking myself in the ass for you letting that one get through your grasp!!!! Awesome car to bad it was turned into a clone. As for me, I am a bit young and too green to have my own experience just yet. But the more this thread carry's on the more reluctant I am to ever let any of my cars go. And that should make for an unpleasant wife when there are thirty five cars rotting away in my yard.
