Post your HAMB Drags ET/MPH's!!!!!

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Tman, Aug 31, 2005.

  1. Lets set it out here for all to see. I will redo my post when I get home and look at my timeslips.

    I made 6 p***es.

Here is what I remeber about my best one.

    14.91ET
    2.14 60Foot time
    87.63 MPH.

My car is a 348 punched out to 358. T350 with a 2800stall. Hurst cheater slicks. I am running tripower and a 425 horse solid lifter 409 cam. After the fact we realized I was only at 2/3s throttle (I kinda knew that). Talking with my dad, I might run a single 4bbl or dual quads. That should be good for a solid second.

For those that didnt know, they redid the track in the days before the drags. I took about the 6th p*** on the new concrete/asphalt. It was real snotty. I am glad I didnt have a hi HP car like Hog Mtn and such. That knowbody ate the wall is amazing.

I made 5. Didn't get a time slip for one. The guy at the ET shack said it never printed. Smoked the tires and the car jumped sideways right off the line once. I got back in the throttle for a second, and then thought better of it and just drove it to the first turn off. Best run was the last but it was still spinning the tires and I shut off a little early 'cause drum brakes make me scared of the dark.

I am a bit discouraged at the times as she's run a half second quicker. Didn't really matter though considering just how great the weekend was!

  12. Kerry, I dont think ANY of us had enough traction! That new track was snotty. My car on the street will JUST pull the left front off the ground, I dont htink it even came close on the track!

How about everyone telling us a little about their car too? Just to refresh us on what you drive. Thanks!

  17. Man you guys ended up with some fast times! Maybe next year I'll make it out there. Sounds like there was a little traction control issue though:D........

I made 5 p***es ranging from 15.13/92.94mph to a best of 14.68/94.28mph. I wanted to run TMAN, we were pretty close. I drive a rusty metal 26 modified with an original un-rebuilt 255 hp 69 350 chev. right out of a running and driving 69 Impala. I did install a new timing chain, cam gear and rear main seal. I am running an early offy 2 4brl manifold with adapters and 2 rochester 2GC's. The carbs were installed straight from the swapmeet with unknown jet sizes. I am running the original single point distributor with a turbo 350 and an open 8 3/4 mopar rearend with 331 gears and 215x85x16 truck radials(6" tread width). I spun halfway through 2nd gear but had a blast. I was running 110 octane racing fuel. No tach.-shifted when the lifters started to float. That's fast enough for me. Metalshapes beat me and it got real exiting when all 4 of his bias plys started smoking in the dark shut down area. I can't powertorque at the lights as the car will push the front wheels. Looking forward to next year. Sam

  21. Sam, that is the only regret I have, not getting together with you! I think we could have made a good show. What kinda lights were you cutting?

Ya man, I was thinking I could pull a 20 sec p*** before I hit the strip. Made 4 timed  p***es, best et 18:39, fastest p*** 72.99 mph.

Heck, I was thrilled my truck could spin the tires, now you guys tell me the track had traction problems??? :( :D Was fun either way.

My truck is a 54 Dodge 1/2 ton pickup running a 150,000 mile 360 2bbl with a 727 auto and a 3:23 open rear. I took the cooler out, but the full tool box was still in it. We got about 14 mpg @ 80 on the 1500 mile round trip.

My car was the copper 27 T coupe. It has a junkyard target 350 chevy from an 87 chevy truck, with a quadrajet,a very light duty 200 R auto trans and a 8" rear from a granada-not sure of the gear ratio, slipped my mind, I have a pretty slippery one.Ha!
Only made two p***es, I was having some front end issues.Best trip was
    15.12 89 mph.

TMAN, on my 14.68 run I cut a .1233 reaction time with a 2.35 60ft time. I was watching your p***es and times but never got over to you to suggest a run. We would have put on a good show. Kerry was too fast for me. I was hiding from him. Sam

  25. No, you mentioned to me that we should run. I just held off for a couple hours when the staging lanes were busy. It was my fault.

Man, my reactions were ****ty compaered to yours, I think I was losing time spinning on the launch?

I think my best was a .23 AND I was leaving on the last yellow! Most of my 60 foots were equal to or betterthan yours. 2.21,2.14,2.23, 2.17,2.11,2.10. What that tells me is I had way more power and was getting to the 60 foot even though I was spinning out past it(Monkey watched it). The truth? I outdrove the cheaterslicks.

For ****s and giggles, what was your 1/8th? I bet we would have been side by side at the 1/8th and in the lights!

Yep, I was launching very soft. With all my cast iron I'll never lift a front tire... I'm jealous! I'd still like to see the MPH up a bit. Gotta find some HP somewhere.

Aw come on Sam, the way I was missing shifts you would have had a pretty good chance. Just ask Flamedabone. Ran him twice, screwed up the 1-2 shift the first time and the 2-3 the second time.

And yes, I remember your advice about the automatic Abone. I'm just to thick to get it. Pretty motivational as I watched you drive away from me.

Made three almost identical p***es. Havent done a thing as far as tuning since I got it running last year. Kept hearing I was hazing the tires the entire time. Sure was straight and solid feeling though.

  29. Your last line said it Steve. That new track was smooth as gl***. Go over to the Mokan message board, the locals ran on Sunday and they had great traction. We must have left enough Hursts/Cokers/Diamondbacks on the surface! They also said, "forget what you knew about the old Mokan!"
