I hadn't seen any footage of his crash until I ran across this . http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1094526_land-speed-racer-crashes-at-370-mph-video
Im amazed that the support vehicle and crew were there in 25 seconds, that's onto it. Glad George is OK. JW
The SCTA has observers all along the course. As soon as a vehicle starts to get in trouble, they are already on the radio dispatching the safety crew. They were on their way as soon as George got sideways.
I believe this was Mike Cooks meet and not SCTA/USFRA meet. At Mikes meets the safety crews follow race cars down the course as best as they can. That way they get there really fast. As seen in the video.
It is amazing to see the video and to think this car is 25 years old! Upgraded of course with the changes in safety requirements. As it was said with Russetta Timing,,, safety fast...
typo41...not sure where you got your information that the car was 25 years old. Speed Demon was debuted in 2007. Speed Demon replaced Ron Main's first streamliner, Flat-fire/Ecofire, similar in design but a completely new car. Bill
I watched a little history on this car.Such a huge amount of work and money. They have their stuff together for sure but you never know what may mess things up.Happened so fast.Kudos to the safety team!!!! George will ride again!!!
