The big awards can be shown under construction. But not finished. No material on the interior and no paint. We got the big prize in Detroit with a car that was featured in the RJ in bare metal at the time of the show.
I sold the Dennis Frings 29 roadster to a gentleman from Ga. He has a street rod shop to finish it. They intend to enter it in the AMBR competition.
There has been no progress in the last 4-5 years. Too busy with other projects. The BTTT posts are to keep this car alive as being my car and so it will always be known as the Dennis Frings 29 roadster. PS; The car has a new owner.
Note the belly pan extends all the way back to the rear axle and NO fasteners showing on the hood sides.
I regret that I have sold the 29 AS-IS but have been contracted to finish the doors. Making the L shaped lips PERFECT to attach the door skins was very time consuming. The finished doors will be costing close to $2,000.00 each. [ $100.00 per hour ]
Not my winner. The shops winner. this was released the week of Detroit. Some were upset over “exposure” before the show. Approval was gained before release.
I am doing a 32 roadster for my Grandson. Having a hard time getting excited about building it. Pretty much a boring cookie cutter car. I do have a 365 Cadillac engine for it. I am wanting to get to narrowing the 32 Studebaker grille shell I have for it and mounting the really trick 51 Olds 98 tail lights I have for it.
Change things up a bit. Build a Bonneville style street roadster. Somewhat traditional looking, but torsion bar deuce frame. Roll cage inside the body shell…maybe with just a small roll hoop protruding above tulip panel. Dzus fastened separate body panels mounted to the interior cage, doors and trunk lid hinged off the cage too. The 365 Caddy would be killer!
S O L D . Gave it away for $42.000.00 as-is. Another big mistake. My only hope is that this hot rod is finished like I planned it. I doubt it. Buyer never owned a hot rod and knows nothing about hot rods. Rod shop experiance . Only assembles 32 kit cars. PS; Custom Classics Truck magazine said.
