I have a straight axle Dodge truck, and am looking at changing to power steering.
The dodge original steering box has a 1" 36 spline pitman shaft, there are aftermarket power steering boxes like the CP5000 that list the same spec's, does this mean it the Dodge pitman arm will bolt on?

so I have searched every where it looks like there is only one power assist steering box made, the AGR Superbox. Has anyone used this on a '50s ibeam straight axle??

Save your money and have the front end aligned and pump up the tires to 32PSI. Make sure the king pins and steering are greased, working correctly and not worn out. Don't forget the steering box lube and check that the bolts are tight. You can adjust the box to take up wear but be sure to do it exactly as the manual says, do it wrong and you can wear out the box in a month.

For a nicer ride take the springs apart, clean out dirt and rust and replace the sliders. Then add a good set of shock absorbers.

I did this on my beam axle Dodge pickup and it became much nicer to drive. Steering was easy except when at a complete stop.
