I have a 55 fairlane that I put the power train from a 79 thunderbird in it! I have the all the parts from the thurnderbird and I was wondering if I could use the power steering box and pump on the 55

since not a common set up - do a lot of measuring, checking geometry for turning, pressure required, etc

Fatman makes a rack for just about any old car .They even had one for my Morris Minor after I put a Mustang 11 front end under it.

  5. The Borgeson boxes are bulkier that the stock boxes, so you may have less exhaust manifold clearance than before. This is the issue with my car. I'm leaning towards R&P in my '59.

I did a rack conversion on a 57 Chevy before kits were available. We used a Buick LeSabre rack and a Camaro pump. We had to build a few brackets to install the rack on the frame and we had to ream out the spindles to fit the tie rods. We changed the column out and used a double D shaft.
We had a hose shop make up the pressure hose.
If there is not a kit available you should be able to use a T-Bird rack.
