power steering for a 57 f100

    how do i go about putting power steering in my 57 f100 with a 272 y block? need pullys and pump box ect. thanks dorvin

    Seriously, it's gonna be tough. I think I saw an article in a (Custom?) Classic Trucks mag several months ago about adapting a modern rack & pinion gear to an old Ford straight axle.
    Unless you're intent on keeping the straight axle, the absolute best setup is the Dodge Dakota kit that Industrial Chassis, Inc sells. I put one on my '59. You get POWER rack & pinion strg, POWER disc brakes, IFS, and cheap & readily available replacement parts, and it lowers the front end about 4 inches. I paid $100 for the donor frame clip. Look up ElPolacko, here on the HAMB.

    I put a 4x4 chevy box on a 54 dodge p/u once. It was a******** getting a pitman arm made but worked well after that. Or how about using a Chevy Asto van box, they swing the right direction for a straight axle.
