    It maynot help much but
that to ne is a ford power steering box
might be a mazda pickup part too.box
    or a ford van

is it being over pressurised, is there any form of cooling in the return line

    p.s. just because
-i just so happen to have two identical engines, one from a fwd car and one from a rwd car - idicating different steering racks.
they both use identical power steering pumps.
the pulleys interchange, one is a few mm or an 1/8 larger
when you do the '2 pi x r ' it soon becomes appaernt that its a greater distance travelled.

do you happen to have solid lines going straight to the input?
as i am in the beleif that the internal springage of the rubber hose actuall spins the pressurised fluid and takes the pump pulsing out - maybe.

    or
at what pressure do they see? is it mega psi?

If you just need a bearing and a seal, you might be better off taking both out and looking for part numbers on them.

If there are none, careful measuring of the dimensions will allow you to purchase replacement ones from a supplier.

Parts are often designed to fit common bearings and seals, for ease-of-service.

I did my friends input seal on his 64 Dodge (sedan) he was going to spend $$ on an overhaul kit, apart from the leak, there was nothing wrong with his box.
We measured the seal, inside dia/outside dia, then bought and fitted an aftermarket seal, fixed the leak for a couple of $$.. To me, that seal on your input shaft looks like an ordinary oil seal, held in with a circlip..
As for bearing play, do you mean free play/in the steering wheel?? If so, that can be adjusted with the adjuster on the sector shaft housing, just set the box to dead center, back off the lock nut, and slowly screw in the adj screw (while giving the input shaft small back and forth movement) adjusting the play out till there is no slack between the input shaft, and output shaft, then lock up the lock nut..
P.S. To remove the seal, first remove the circlip, get a sharp spike and punch a SMALL hole thru the outer shell of the seal (keep the hole close to the housing, you don't want to scar the shaft), screw in a self tapping screw and pull out the seal with pliers, might take a couple of attempts, depending how tight the seal is, and size of the screw..

Thanks a lot guys for the comments.
@inthweedz..play is not in the steering ..it's the input shaft, little to the sides.
So Brand and typ will be still helpfull.

If there are no numbers on the bearing and seal take them to your local bearing dealer and they should be able to match them up.

    Ok, a quick question rodscout..
If you take off the end housing (four allen screws) is it a plain bush, or a tapered bearing? if it's a tapered bearing, are there any shims between the housings, or any behind the bearing?
If so, that could be where you can adjust the bearing ''play''.
    If it's a bush, it'll need replacing.

Looks like a Isuzu Trooper [2001] box. Borgenson uses these boxes for alot of conversions.

Tag on the box I have:

    897109986
    441-00510
    JKC 1118

Thanks a lot guys, we try to fix the sealing but it did not work , and a ISUZU looks different.. so i still have to find out Brand and Model of this steering (pictures abowe) so i will buy a new one. The Lares 11206 is matching to the shafts but its a little bigger but there is no space for it between frame and engine.

Hey rodscout, I would strip the old box down first before buying a new one, it might be an easy fix, if not, now you have a good reason to spend the $$$ on a new unit..

do they call them the 500 series pas boxes

    i was thinking a 1998
    ford E series van
just because of the short sector shaft
its if you like similar to a saginaw 800 series

ooh i wonder if they do a right hand drive version
and its a smidge smaller than a saginaw 800
or if the mounting foot is easier to deal with

    hmm
anyway, i think you are all missing a trick in that if you have a 35-40 ford
you could have a solid shaft from the box to the wheel like the 65 mustang or 66 chevy2

into a 525 or a power box, its just a slot on a shaft with a tapered spline at the wheel end
so much easier that having uj's
fancy turn signal switch with hooters on the turn switch
    done
    thanks
