More info as to what you are working with would be a help! But generally if it's a stock set up, you are stuck with what you got. If it's aftermarket stuff, many times the pump is not matched to the rack. There are pressure restrictor valves and other band aids, or you can change or slow down the pump itself.
its a jag ifs and jag power pump on a 56 chevy truck and it way to light it has 245 x 17 front tyres and 285 x 17 rear
yes I think so . But If I put a bigger pulley on would that lower the pressure and make it steer heaver ?
The pump isn't the prob. the ration of the rack is your prob. If you really want stiffer steering, but quick find a manual rack. There are a ton of different rations for racks, I would imagine a Jag is quick. Look for one off a race car and ask what the ratio is. Also if you want a light and awesome rack check out Appleton Racks.n These rack were actually designed from a Jag, but modified a lot to handle demands and light too.
