Just wanted to know if any of the hot rodding brothers & sisters will be making power tour? This will be our first year. Anyone have any experience do’s and dont’s? Hope to meet you out there!
I would love to do both. I just can’t swing it. I’m working on my 67 Plymouth and my 39 Ford and they eat up a lot of cash lol no bad luck I’ll see you out there.
Both are to close to me. I will meet up in St Louis and go to Tulsa for power tour. Drag week I will follow from Joliet all the way to St Louis then back home. Working on my 56 truck now. It will be ready. Planning on a lot of miles this year.
I’ve gone on a few of them and had the time of my life definitely a bucket list thing to do. But this year I’m hoping to do the Great American Race which will be driving the mother road Route 66 start to finish.
I will be at the track in Tulsa the last day as one of my customers is participating & I will be transporting his car back here to Northern Ohio afterwards. One of these years I will do it & many other events with one of mine, but the good weather months are my busiest time, so probably after Laura retires & I am not on the road as much. Also hope to catch up with some of you guys in Tulsa at minimum. Debating doing the whole thing. It’s pretty short this year and I have some pretty good friends in every city it stops in.
@fastcar1953 & @guthriesmith , That sounds Great guys, we will set something up as it gets closer to "showtime" God Bless Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...ar-transport-hauling-open-or-enclosed.614419/
I did the long haul in 2022 in my T Bucket, and again in 2024 in my 47 Chevy. This year it is too far from my house, and I won’t have enough time to drive a hot rod up there. So I’m going to fly up there and do it in a rental car, since I have never seen Route 66. Don’t be in any rush to get to the venue each day. It’s basically the same thing 5 days in a row anyway. Enjoy the drive each day, and stop to enjoy the sights along the way. That is the best part. You will see some broken down cl***ic cars along the way, offer to help them out if you can.
Unofficial Hot Rod Power Tour Board - The BangShift.com Forums Book hotels now, rroms are probably scarce by now. Follow the Route, it the Power Tour, not the Power Shows. Venue are pretty much the same after Day1 unless there's an open track event at the venue. Good to have a navigator along to keep track of the driving instructions. Bring some tools.
Yep, bring all the parts and tools you can carry. Don’t sweat the hotels too much. In 2022, I booked them one day at a time, as I drove along. The ones near the venues will fill up. But if you drive about 20-30 miles towards the next venue, you will have no problem finding a place.
If I go, I plan to stay at friends houses and just enjoy the drive. I have done the power tour before and as cool as it is to have that many cars all going in the same direction, it is also sort of a pain at times if you let it be.
That works for some. Back in '09 GM was to host the last day at the Warren Proving Grounds but had to cancel due to the company going ***s up 2 weeks before kick off. Organizers had to scramble to find a new venue, and moved it to Mount Clemens. Booked new hotel there & then cancelled the reservations I had made at Knight's Inn for $45 months earlier. Keeping in mind it's not a 5 star establishment. I was surprised to see they had jacked the fee for that night to $225!
This will my first go so I’m super excited. My 39 Ford want be ready. So I will be taking my 67 Fury. It’s a 383 BB with a 727 TF ******. So it should cruise out pretty good.
