I am a junkyard Junkie. I have a 1931 Model A Sedan that I want to install Power Windows. Are there any suggestions of year and car that would work? Buying aftermarket is very expensive. Any input would help. Roger
Roger,my first question is why? Years ago I used power windows in a Model A pickup because I did have window regulators for the truck and the internet was unheard of. I fabricated the power windows from a 70 Chevy Caprice. The original Model A window regulators are available fairly reasonable from places like Mac's. HRP
Just my opinion, but I don't see why anyone would want to put power windows on a model A, or any car for that matter. I got them on my OT daliy driver and I wish I had hand cranks instead.
Psst: don't tell anyone but he's building one of those "street rod" model A cars and not a "traditional" Model A hot rod like we build. That is a rather street roddy thing rather than a traditional rod thing C4engr. You might want to read Ryan's sticky on returning to the roots of traditional hot rods before posting too many "street rod" things. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=742511 A 31 slant window 4 door street rod might be a car a guy would put electric windows in though.
Actually, the cable style actuators I see in a lot of kits, you can rob right out of the doors of like mid-90s to mid-2000's GM sedans. Same thing. Although a lot of those kits are downright cheap.
Damn guys he didn't ask where to get billet rims and lt-1 motor motor mounts. I have a hard time seeing junkyard power windows as the defining line between traditional and street rod.
Geeeeee guys, cut him a little slack,he just asked a (?)....anyway i have used the moters out of a Chrysler Fifth Ave,they have arms on them ,that will work with your window channels.
My 28 chevy was last built in 1964-65 and I put power windows and door latches in it at the time,so it seems "traditional" to me.
Power windows don't make the traditional cut. Plain and simple. Why is this even an issue? Go to hotrodders.com
