powerglide help

    i have a 54 chevy 235 powerglide trans my trans needs to be rebuilt it slips out of 2nd gear. is the 54 the only year that will fit without changing the rest of the drivetrain

    I think so. However you can get a master rebuild kit form Chevs of the 40's for around $235 (ironically) bucks.

    '53-'54 are the 2 that'll work. The '50-'52 aren't much of a trans.

    It's really not a big deal to put an open driveshaft rear end in your car, I've done it twice and I'm no mechanic.Narrowing spring perches, and getting the angle right are the only items that require more than a 5th grade education.Then you've got a lot of cheaper, better ****** options.
