I have a 1956 chevy with a powerglide , it shifts nice into reverse but slips in foward (1st and 2nd) . The car sat for a long time with low fluid,i added fluid but didnt seem to help also fluid now looks milky pink.My question is there an adjustment (band) to fix the slipping ?

Sounds like there might be water in there to cause the milk like fluid?

If there is water in the fluid nothing you do will fix it for very long. The friction materials soak up water like sponge and as soon as they get hot that water turns to steam and pops a flake of it off. After a little while it will start slipping which creates more heat and more flaking.....vicious cycle. Best thing to do is rebuild it before you cause more damage to hard parts from the heat of the slippage.
