anyone running powerglides much i just got a lead on a few that are "rebuildable" any word on em? will prolly be selling them.
Stand Up! Hook Up! Shuffle to the door! Sure plenty of Glides around, depends on what you are running I guess? High first gear makes them a liability unless you have a very light ride! My 67 GS has the Buick ST-300 two speed with a switch pitch converter which helps the start by raising the stall speed, but that was never an option with the powerglide from the factory!
Aluiminum cases are the only ones people want. Well, most people anyway. I suppose of someone is restoring then they may want the cast iron one.
My 35 has a glide. Works good.... it came mated to the 1966 283 I'm running. It's a low buck wonder, and the bucks have been low lately... so it stays.
Sell them to the bracket and lower cl***, drag racers. That's what I do, although one is going into the 51 Business Coupe for the nephew. But, it is built, has a higher stall converter, and 4.88 gears in the rear. For a street car, run a 3 speed automatic; an overdrive trans if you have low gears. Powerglides have'nt been available in new cars since 73, and they are starting to get harder to find. There's a ton of aftermarket parts for them, and they're easy to build. Gear Vendors still makes an overdrive unit that takes the place of the extension housing, but it's spendy. Butch/56sedandelivery.
