I long for the day when I can have an old car for a daily driver... but I work 25 miles away from work and the 80+mph commute would be too much for an old truck... I know, excuses. Sam!
Sam, I think of all the guys here, you could pull it off iffin you really wanted to..........yes, that was a challenge!

Seems to me Mother Earth News did a similar story a few years ago where they took an older p/u and sunk some cash into it rather than buy a newer p/u. A well tuned older V8 will get reasonable mileage, hell even my warned over '65 gets decent mileage (with a shitty tune!) All through high school and my first couple years of college I drove my '65 SS and my '64 stepside everyday - if for no othre reason, its fun!
I found a problem with the 54. I didnt drive it enough before to connect with the damn car! In the last week, I have grown to be one with this car.It is so much fun when you know how the car reacts. Is this why the "streetrodders" trailor their shit? They dont ever drive em enough?
I got sevan friggin cars and the newest is a 66 ford pick up thats down right now gettin a 500caddy transplant and will hopefully be as dependable as it used to be(meaning I took apart a perfectly good truck just to put a bigger motor in it). My daily is A 65 cad coupe deville that drives rain or snow and never lets me down it leaks everything and goes through a lot of gas but its still better than a new car and payment to me, I put over 65thousand on it and still goin strong I have to add so much oil to it it never gets dirty or needs to be changed.
