I don't know why I am doing this. I guess to express my loss.
My friend who I finally convinced to join HAMB died unexpectedly yesterday. He was going by the HAMB name of GONNABLATE. He had just purchased a 1957 Plymouth wagon and had been working overtime on 12 hour shifts to pay for it. He worked 7 days a week and I really admired his determination on getting the car paid for. He finallly got it paid for but kept on working hoping to save up enough money between child support and helping his Mom and Dad who were in bad health. He wanted to get some wide whites and chrome reverse wheels and get the motor and transmission working. His Kids had just came up from Loiusiana to spend Christmas with him and he took a few days off to be with them. We had talked for at least a month or longer with 2 more of our friends about going to a very old junkyard that was 2 hours away from home. I had remembered that were a few old Plymouths there that he could get parts from to help on his Plymouth. We got there and after about 15-20 minutes I noticed that he was coughing alot and I figured it was from smoking and being as excited as I was about being at an old junkyard. I pointed out a few items that I remembered that he needed on his Plymouth, but he seemed like he really didn't care that much and didn't comment a whole lot about the items like I thought that he should have been really excited about. Then he came towards my wife and I and sat down by an old Plymouth and I asked him if he was OK. He said he was and I asked him if he wanted a piece of Candy. He said, "No". His 15 year old daughter was there and I asked her if he had anything to eat and she said that he had been snacking the whole way there on chips and juice. I figured that he had indigestion and once he released a little Gas, or burped good he would be OK. I laid my tools by him and told him that my wife and I were going to walk around a little in the yard and we would be right back. A few minutes later, we ran into my other 2 friends who had went with us and I mentioned that my friend wasn't feeling very well and was sitting by the old Plymouth. They said they would check on him as they were going that way anyway to get some tools to remove a few parts that they needed from other cars. A few more minutes passed and my wife and I started calling for our friends and no one answered. My wife and I started heading towards where our friend had sat down and when we arrived, no one was there. We started heading towards our cars and heard a car horn blowing so we ran faster towards our cars and discovered that my friend was unconcious and hardly breathing. Despite our efforts doing CPR and alot of praying....our friend passed away, and never regained conciousness. His oldest daughter who is 16 next week knew the worst had happened and begged him, "Daddy don't do this to me!" She was always Daddy's Girl and she loved him so much. The Doctor said that we did all we could have done and if it meant anything to us, that he passed without feeling any pain. Not the pounding on his chest, the tubes in the throat, or the needles stuck in him or the crying from all of us. Just sleep. Those words did mean alot to us and I remember every single word the Doctor said... and I always will. My friend was a good guy who would tease you alot and give you his last dollar or his shirt if you needed it. I would deeply appreciate any and all prays for his Family as they struggle to put him to Rest Saturday. Words cannot express our sorrow for his Family and the world has lost another pretty good guy. Thanks for just hearing me and reading this message as it is about all I can do for now.

thanks your all your kind words guys, i was one of the friends with Jimmy when it happened, ive known Ed since i was about 5 years old i grew up next to him, he was one of the best guys you could ask for, a vet of the navy. his 57 is sittin in mine and my brother's shop, we are gonna talk to his family and see if they wont let us finish it the way he wanted it done. but thanks for all your kind words, i will say thats the first time ive ever had to watch a good freind die in front of me and nothin i could do about it, its deffently a shock to reality that anything can happen at any givin moment, here we was lookin for parts for his car, and 2 hours later at the hospital the doctors are tellin us hes gone..........
