Pre 49 Ford tranny i.d help

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Pist-n-Broke, Jun 19, 2012.

  1. I've lost track of where this one came from and it's different to look at. I have the Mac Van Pelt book and the I.D. # is not in his book. It does have the 3" fork and offset slider. Open drive that tells me most likely Truck but what motor? Look at the bell housing part with the starter mount as part of it. Is this 6 cyl? Who can tell me? The numbers on the case above inspection hole are *IGC-71362* The closest in the Van Pelt book is an IGA not IGC
It's Hell to get old and know it but beats not getting Old,,,,I think.

I think that is for the first series flat 6 with that odd bell bolt pattern. That was 42-46 era.
