how heavy is the model & is the interior modeled?

great job btw, i got as far as building a model A coupe roof and
decided to just draw it.... i spend a vast majority of my day
doing 3D as a living, just couldnt bring myself to doing more
of it on my free time. ;)

    perhaps ZBrush will change this..

janne - you have some beautiful illustrations, only 25? sheesh, great job!

Ditto, although I do like drafting, no way to get details right by drawing. Mock-up, mock-up, mock-up.
Little back tracking and the result was EXACTLY as expected. Now with a scratch built frame for the
Hemi project, some drawing but can't follow blueprints, it's only for materials list and a general guide.
Once done, then a cookie cutter drawing could be made for the next one..

Dave, I always love to see pics of your work on that render.

As for the illustrations. I recommend it. A lot of the time guys lose focus or even forget what they wanted the car to look like. Sometimes it takse so long to build the car that your ideas may change. If you have a picture to go by those ideas stay intact better and you stick to the original plan.
Here is an animated gif I made of a Photochop I did of AHOTRODs car:

I make these all the time and have helpped out many. I have a few on my site and a few on this site if you search.

actually i played with various illustrations to get my ideas on paper, but i have a good enough head yet to do and see the complete build in it. although on the 55, i played the bolt on and off thing 3-4 times with the front suspension to get it where i wanted it, otherwise i picture it and just do it... no matter how many times my friend johnny tells me not to...haha.

I'm a designer, and I can draw, but for me to sit down and try to do a Foose like rendering takes an ***load of time, and I don't really want to do it. So what I did when I built my Kaiser was take some side shots with masking tape across the areas where I was planning on cutting. I drew marks in 1" increments on the tape and put it vertically on the door posts and pillars, and a horizontal piece on the doors since I knew I wanted to stretch them. Then when I went into Photoshop, I could manipulate the side shot and know how much I was moving things. Once I got the picture to look right, I knew exactly how much to cut. If I needed more detail, I took another pic with finer increments, maybe 1/2" or 1/4" in places. This is more of a functional type of planning than a purely aesthetic type. I would not show the image to a sponsor or anything, but it definitely helps in planning.
