I'm looking at swapping a 1994 TBI engine (converted to carb) with a late 60's 350 Chevy. I plan on leaving the transmissions in each vehicle. Are the bolt patterns the same pre LS1? Although they look the same want to make sure prior to going through all the work.

1994 small block and 1960s small block chevy have the same bellhousing. The crank is different, but as long as you use the flexplate that matches the engine, it will interchange.

the LS engines have the same bellhousing bolt pattern too, but there is some monkey business with the length of the crank on some of them.

Look out the "Trad Police" are coming. Yes, all SBC have the same bellhousing pattern including LS1 and big block. Be sure to match the starter ring/flywheel and the starter. What's it going in? (I type too slow)

I'm swapping the 1994/350 turbo out of my 37 Nash to my truck I'm selling 59 F100 1969/700R4. The buyer thinks the engine is too powerful in the truck (I know.....), so I offered to swap the engines but leave the transmissions. Wanted to make sure that it was a straight bolt in. Sounds like if I leave the flywheel and torque converters attached it will be fine, which would be the easy thing to do anyway.

Couldn't you just pull off a few plug wires and save some time and h***le?;)

dont pull the engines without unbolting the converters....leave the converters in their respective ******s.....even if they were the same ******, there is no way to properly seat the converter with it bolted to the flexplate and its very easy to damage the pump removing it that way....

If you leave the flexplates on the engines, and the converters in the transmissions, it should be fine. I think that's what he meant to say.
