Hot Rods pre oil

    Iam trying to pre lube my rebuilt 327 using drive on the oil pump. got 40 pounds oil pressure lots of oil on driver side rockers p*** side dry no oil at all. do I need to have the dist. in the block to get oil to the p*** side lifters

    yeah....I think so. The housing seals an oil p***age.

    Don't put excessive downward pressure, especially if using a 1/2 in drill motor as the oil pump cover can get scored, leading to pump familiar.
     
  5. A proper pre oiler is built just like the distributer shaft housing.

    You don't just pump it you also rotate the motor ( by hand) while you are oiling it.

    My pre oiler is built from an old distributor.
     
  7. Mine too. I got a GM, an FE Ford, Chrysler. Every time I get a throw away distributer from someone's build or in a box if junk I make another.

    That did it I got oil to the p***s. side now

    You need to turn over the crankshaft while oiling to get all the places oiled. Gary
