hey you guys, sorry there hasn't been any updates for a while, been busy, and then two days ago I BROKE my wrist so I gotta let it heal for a while..............
I'm 15 too! Kool build! I've always wanted to do a model A roadster! But, I ended up buying a 1948 Ford pickup. Great progress! Can't wait to see more!
Took 2 years for me to build mine 2007-2009. Only thing not correct is the alternator but I have been thinkin more and more about buy a powermaster unit to fake a generator. Keep up the good work, I used to work on one part a day at least to further my build. Theres still little things you can do with one arm until the other is healed to have both.-Weeks
ok sorry for the lack of updates recently. I worked on the car all of yesterday and today, and got some progress! I cleaned up and primered the rearend, put the top 4 leaves of the spring on the bottom, greased it, and got the rear end in the car for good! I will be leaving the rearend in primer. So its not much but I was surprised how much I did lacking full use of my right arm.
unfortunately those are 19's, but I do have one 17, once I get three or four more I'll use them because they are my favorite wheel! the reason for 19's is I got five with brand new tires for $150!
update so I have my tires and tubes, waiting on the wheels to be sandblasted. the rear shocks are mocked up, they are armstrongs, the shop teacher at the local highschool gave them to me (I'm homeschooled). I took the tranmission apart put in new gaskets all around, I hope to put the engine in this weekend, or next week!
ok so I finally got the engine in!!! it took me so much longer than I thought it would, but I did it! I will post pictures tomorrow
Lookin real good. It's good to see a young guy interested in pre-war hot rods! Good for you! You've found some great examples for inspiration. It doesn't look like you'll sway too far from them. Best of luck on your hop up! Sent from my iPhone using TJJ
You'll be driving it in no time. You are at my favorite part of a build. It's starts going fast now! I wish my kids had your motivation!
I keep on changing my mind back and forth, but what I've been thinking recently is to use the coupe body I have, because its in much better condition than the roadster. I am going to start ***embling the body onto the frame in the next couple of days!!!!!
Looking good banger brother. Looks alot like how mine went together and as others have said it will be cruisin time soon. If ya have any questions ask away.-Weeks
Little gas tank, coil, stand that bolts to the frame for running an engine in the frame with no body on it for sorting out the bugs.-Weeks
today I put the rearend back in(I took it out to put the engine in), put the body subframe on the ch***is, and got the cowl ready to be attached. pics tomorrow Joe
I love tall pre-war style model A's, both coupes and roadsters! Nice to see a young fellow interested in them. I wish you luck and will follow along the build. You can consider yourself very lucky to get into old cars at that age! For me it still was a distant dream an the age of 25...
update Yesterday I bought my very first (ever) speedpart!!!! I'm so excited! Its a double two barrel adapter, made by Almquist. Anyone have an idea how old it is? My idea is to flip the stock intake manifold upside-down and make an adapter plate that attaches the Almquist to the manifold. I think It should work. also attached is a pic of where the car is at right now. Joe
Hey guys sorry I haven't posted in a while, I was just so busy the last couple of months I barely even had time to think about cars. I have made some progress on getting the coupe body together and on the frame, although it isn't much. here are some pics
wow its been a long time! I guess I thought life would never get in the way of cars! Well I've just been super busy working and friends visiting from the mainland and schoolwork(I'm home schooled) and other stuff. heres some pics I took today
Having driven a model T with mechanical brakes I suggest you convert to juice brakes. It can be done but it is a full time job keeping them adjusted. Joe
