My 28"A" had the rear trunk crushed bad when I got the body in 1958,so I bobtailed it as a kid. I found a pair of Rayo Drivinglamps in my grandads barn in 60 on a refter}there about 1910 I think. I put 12v bulbs in them, they were red one side an clear on the bigger side, later to add more rear light I truned them backword and added red lenz behind the clear. photo 3.JPG

Man...I'm hung up on the cuffed Levi's and Engineer ("Okie") boots. That's what we wore, but Marlin Brando had his cut a little short ('Expectin' a flood, Johnny?') in the 'Wild one'.
Still cool today...but I have to admit the '37-'39 teardrops have been a little overdone.

I still like the Model A single with license plate lite hung right in the middle...
Looks real cool when I hit the binders and the Whoa lite comes on, and I step out with the built-up heels and soles of the traditional Okie boots, note the 1.5" grey cuff of the Levi's, rolled and sewn...
No more Camels or Luckies rolled in the sleeve...(really scarfs a good white tee shirt...)
damned hair's thick as a mop...where'd the damned color go?

  3. I've been messing with the "Search" function trying to find a taillight thread from 2006 but to no avail! Very cool sets of lights featured in 20+ pages!

37 taillights are "traditional" on an early roadster, but not common. This is the only one I can think I've ever seen in old original pics:

But, this car has always been doing things a bit different than most other cars of the era. And, it did get regular ol' 39 teardrops later in it's life.

Don't think of this as spam, but I gotta tell about a phone call I got once. A fella called me about the 41 Studebaker taillights I reproduce, thinking about buying a single one. He had an old hot rod roadster with a filled-in hole in the center of the panel below the trunk lid. He and his friends examined the size of the hole, and I think talked with friends of the previous owner. They determined there was a 41 Studebaker taillight installed in the center of that panel way back in the day. I've never seen pics of such a thing, and never even heard of it before. It would kind of look like the center taillight in a 48 Chevy Sedan Delivery, wouldn't it?
