I drive them at least once a week all winter, so they'll stay happy....fuel won't go sour, battery will stay up, etc.

  4. I started doing the winterizing thing yesterday. checking the anti freeze. I drain a gallon out of the vehicle and add a fresh gallon. and start it up and let it warm up and mix and test. Adding a new gallon replenished the rust inhibitor anti corrosion additives. Filled the power washer with RV anti freeze. We had pump troubles this year. and I demolished the OSB wood shed that was over the pump and tank. So I gotta build something to keep the pump from freezing. Ive got this thermostat device that plugs into a 110 outlet and you can plug into it. It is set at 32 and 45 degrees. most folks plug a light bulb into them. If the bulb goes bad them the pump can freeze. I hook up a electric skillet and its not likely to quit. If a single drop of water hits a hot light bulb it will pop.

Not enough winter here to worry about.

  6. That's a another thing the gas we have today will indeed turn to varnish and gum. I never had good success with fuel additives. I drain the tanks and let them run until they burn all the gas out of the carb. Lots of things like the lawn mower and garden tiller that will not be used for a few months need to not have any fuel left in them.

I drive my cars during the winter weather permitting. Checking the Anti-Freeze is about all I do.

Here in northern Wisconsin my hobby cars are put away for the winter, finished up last weekend, have received our first snowfall, snow showers every day this week. We have to deal with snow, cold and ridiculous amounts of salt and brine on our roads, which usually keeps cars in garages till April. I've been using Deltron battery tenders for many years now, would recommend this product to anyone as I have some batteries 10 years old, also on my snowmobiles, motorcycles in past, lawn tractor/snowblower. I put in no ethenol gas for storage, check antifreeze, put dryer sheets in cars and I'm set. Been storing cars, snowmobiles, cycles, boat, for 35+ years now without any problems probably because the garages have been good, not sheds or barns.

I fill up the tank and try to drive it when I can. Took the Ford to work one day last winter at 13 degrees. Good thing the heater works. Working on the last door seal hopefully over the weekend to get rid of the cold drafts.

I don't do anything you can pretty much drive them all winter here. We get some pretty good storms but they only last a day or two.

Here in the South the weather may get cold but snow is rare and we can drive year round.

    Heaters are nice. HRP

Put the camaro away a couple weeks ago. Always change oil, and grease the front end. Run 94 octane with no ethanol in it all the time but I still fill up the tank and add fuel stabilizer. Pull the battery, stick it on wheel dollies and slide her over to the side of the shop so I have as much room as possible to continue work on the coupe.

if I lived where you had to prep your car for winter I would move to where you don't have to prep your car for winter.

When the weather turns cold, I use Decon and old fashioned snap traps baited with peanut butter placed around the perimeter of my shop and have never had a rodent problem. So far this year, Gman - 5, Mice - 0. I don't put anything in the cars that smell like dryer sheets, moth balls or Irish Spring. Too many reports of mice using dryer sheets as nesting material and them eating the Irish Spring. Moth balls stink up the cars and are harmful to humans. I also add Stabil to the gas tank as some of this gas will be there come Spring.

I add seafoam to the fuel of all my cars and let them run a few minutes. Had good luck with that the last decade. I also check antifreeze and I run the cars at least once a month throughout the slumber

I replaced the heater fan fuse with a circuit breaker. I'm ready

  23. P1020963.JPG I put them away a few weeks ago but have been able to get the o/t out a few times on the warm days.
We haven't had any of the white shit yet, so no salt, yet.
They appear to be getting along.

  24. I pretty much don’t do anything. I actually prefer to drive my old cars during the winter months over the summer months. And thanks no Less to mild coastal South Carolina winters!

I rolled the windows all the way up. All set.

  27. I store mine at a friends very clean shop-heated floors, temp never goes below 55 degrees. No dirty work takes place in this area-so nothing flying around and not much people traffic through the winter.
Will be going away this week-lucky for me -only a couple miles from my house-and not a crowded storage facility.
I make sure there is some Hi-test gas in the tank.-sometimes I remember to put a little fuel stabilizer in the tank.
I drive it in,shut off the battery and throw a cover over it-done

I've heard people bitch/joke about that. Something along the lines of tying a snow shovel (or ice scraper) to their car and just keep driving south till, when asked, nobody knows what it's for. That's probably far enough.

If mine sits for more than a few weeks I hook up a battery tender to it. Check and set the tire pressures, go over the fluids and fill up the gas. It sat last year when I was getting over heart surgery for almost 3 months, but not a problem when I was able to run it. I crack the windows a bit. I'll do the mouse trap thing this year for sure.
