  2. I'm from the UK, but now live here in California, I got in from work at 12, and have been glued to the TV up till now.

He was the 1st President that I personally ever had any experience of through the media at home. I was just old enough to realise who he was, and at the time, he spent a lot of time with our Prime minister, and thats how we got to see a lot of him.

Great man, well respected from what I can gather from my co-workers & friends.

    RIP.

I just wish he could have died earlier without having to be decimated by Altzheimers

Weather you agree with their politics or not, you gotta admit that Ronnie & Nancy were cl*** people and weren't afraid to stand up for what the believed in even when it was not popular. Godspeed Mr. President

Exactly...the kind of a man who SHOULD be President...someone you'd be proud to have your children look up to, admire and respect. Undoubtedly one of the most genuinely GOOD men of our time.

I've got to believe history will record that he was one of the best President's we've had. He was the right man at the right time. We should all pray for Nancy, she is going to have a tough time for awhile. Theirs was a true love story.

<font color="green">He was a great man who inspired a great many people, Americans as well as others around the world.

I just keep thinking of the cl*** Ron and Nancy brought to the White House.

Haven't seen anything like it since.

I am glad to see the traditional ceremonies carried out to the letter.

I'm sure it is the way he would have wanted it.

Aparrently he made the plans for the funeral back when he was President. There was talk of a 300 page set of concise instructions.

I was moved. And think its great that the 'everyday' people are getting the chance to pay their respects.

I will be visiting the library later in the year when I travel to LA.

  11. In the MTV age it is a relief to see tradition in a State Funeral (the first in 30 years). Reagan did many great things for this country and for the world. Rest now Mr Reagan.

I don't normally post on off topic posts, but I just have to add my .02.
I am a bit too young to remember much of what Reagan did during his tenure in office, or to comment on his political ideas and accomplishments.
I can say that I think he was truly the last of the really "great" men to be in the White House. He was from the old Hollywood, and from a generation of men who held that honesty, valour, pride, and most of all honor were virtues. He was a truly great man.
The lying, cheating, and scandalous behavior that has plagued the Oval Office since Reagan is a slap in the face to many of our great Presidents, and has made a mockery of America.
    RIP Reagan.

We were lucky to have him. I'm afraid to think where we would be as a country without his leadership. I remember what is was like in the late seveties before Reagan and after. We should all strive to have that much character!

Reagan did alot of good for this country! He was my second or third president, and I'm glad I actually remember when he was in the whitehouse. We haven't had a president of his caliber since. R.i.p. Ronnie

  15. Reagan was the first president I ever voted for in 1984.

He was a good president, an honorable man and he had a wicked sense of humor.

It's unfortunate that he had Alzheimers... Just think about all the memories that were lost.

Someone at work said they're gonna put him on the $10 bill.

    Anyone else hear about that?

I too am barely old enough to remember Mr. Regan as president. I reserver ***le Mr. for those I greatly respect, Mr. Regan is one of them. Political views aside, he was a great man, so much so that wether you agreed with him or not, you had to respect a man like that.

    Godspeed Sir.

<font color="green">There are currently three proposed bills to add President Reagans likeness to American currency.

One for the twenty dollar bill which has little support, probably because they just redesigned the twenty.

One for the dime which has little support and is actually OPPOSED by Nancy Reagan. The guy who proposed the bill says he will continue anyway.

And yes, the bill to add him to the ten dollar bill. This one does have the most support and seems like the most likely to happen.

    There you go!

Didn't know him personally but....he had a great sense of humer, but had a back bone (something that most politician lack). From all the coverage of his death and burial you get a real sense of how down to earth this man must have been. Rest in Peace actor, governer, president....AMERICAN.

yep.. cried when they put him on the caisson from the he**** and Nancy was out watching him.. UGH.. that was tough to watch.. what a remarkable woman, and great couple they are. [IMG]

As cheezy as it sounds, watching that ceremony really made me proud to be American, and proud of who President Regan was, I agree he will always be remembered as one of the greatest Presidents in history.

With President Reagan I always felt the Country was in the best possible hands, he made you feel good about being an American. I remember seeing him speak. On the way to the speech his motorcade p***ed near where I was standing. I waved, he looked over, smiled and waved. Not a handshake, but still meant alot to me.

This is so OT. . . but way too one sided to sit out. We all must have Alzheimers if we are mythologizing him to this degree.

Reagan was just the first guy to figure out that you could dupe blue collar America into supporting policies that benefit the rich and special interests if you wrap it up in fake homespun morality. He took advantage of our good nature.

He's definitely a large historical figure and I watch this procession with respect for what he meant to so many people, but disagree with the one-sided father figure hero worship. Let's keep it a little bit real.

He was a politician who supported policies that were good for some people and bad for a lot of other people.

On the positive side- I remember seeing him talk "daddy-talk" on T.V. while justifying "trickle-down" economics to the nation. I was about 13 years old. I think that's the day I became a punk. Thanks Mr. Reagan.

I had just finished reading "When Character Was King" by Peggy Noonan before Reagan died, so a lot of what has been talked about this week was really fresh in my mind.
The one thing that stood out for me was he was a man who knew what he believed, wasn't afraid to make a decision and stick with it, and whos handshake was his bond. Politics aside, we need more folks like that. He deserves my respect.
My wife thought it was strange that Nancy wasn't crying but having had an uncle suffer from alzhiemers I can tell you the tears probably had dried up years ago, and any that were shed were from joy and relief that he was released from that prison.

Wether you agreed with him or not, you had to respect a man who you knew wasn't ********ting you. If he said something, he meant it. That's what a president is supposed to do. As for the State funeral, I think we need some of that once in a while to remind us of who we are and how great this country is. Nothing wrong with a little respect and tradition. Kinda balances out Janet's *** and emenem's *** for the newer generation. I'm out, back to cars...

Dimes? Ten-spots? Bah! The most fitting tribute would be to designate ketchup as a vegetable permanently and rename it in his honor.

That's funny, all the "punks" I know are pretty conservative Barry Goldwater, Ronald Reagan types.

I wholeheartedly agree, earned respect and tradition are much better things than the schlock we are force fed today.

    RIP President Reagan

Just wanted to add my opinion before Ryan pulls the plug.

some people's parents should be slapped for not teaching respect.
that aside, no president will ever make everyone happy...but i must say that i felt secure just knowing he was our president at that time. it was a time of worry, and distrust.put him on the ten..he deserves it.he ought to have found a place on germany's tender as well.
