My neighbor wants to sell me a triple Stromberg 97 set up mounted on an Edelbrock SBC aluminum intake. He's a machinist, and custom made a very trick progressive throttle linkage on it as well. I have some interest, and want to throw him a price, but I don't want to insult him. He just tells me he has no idea what its worth... What is something like this worth? Thanks in advance.
You can't put a price on another mans parts,,,,get him to name a price and go from there,,,,,,,,are the carbs in good working order? are they junk?HRP
If the carbs are rebuilt... that's $200-$250ea right there... and the manifold is another $150-$200... linkage another $150... so anywhere between $800 and $1200 if it is looking good and all set up and ready to run... if it is grungy, $500 would be a good price. Sam.
What Sam said... And I'll add that if it's 'ready to run' and he'll stand by it, anything less than $1500 would be a deal. Meaning that if you can get it for $500 you'd be smoking bit don't feel bad if you have to go $1000...
It never seems like it's going to be a huge expense till you get yourself involved. I got the bright idea to put dual quads on my coupe a couple of years ago, and it all started when a friend sold me a like new Edelbrock manifold for $125.00. Two #1404, 500 CFM Edelbrock Performers were $450.00, linkage $50.00, fuel lines and regulator $125.00 and I topped it off with one of Dennis O'Brien's finned air breathers for $135.00. The air breather needs a base and a element, another $50.00 for a cheepie Edelbrock from Jeg's...........so that $900 and something. Another friend gave me an Offenhouser 3 X 2 intake and a McGirk 6 X 2 intake, don't even think about those for less then $1500 - $2000...................they look great, the performance is marginal, my dual quads are equal to the old C-3B Edelbrock dual plane with the four shooter Holley that I still have, and a hell of a lot less economical. For the other post where the guy was asking about electric pumps and pressure..............AFBs and Performers like 6.5 lbs., no more, no less! John
