Forgive me if this is in the wrong forum. I'm hoping that some of you hamb-ers can help me out. I'm not trying to sell anything here, just trying to figure out what a fair price is for some parts from my 32 Chevy 2-door sedan. I've got a front axle and a rear axle assembly, with complete brakes, as well as the steering wheel, shaft and box. The car has been sitting in a barn since 1962 and it still has the original interior and paint. It's nice but by no means perfect. I have a friend who is restoring one of these cars and he can use the parts. I don't want to gouge him but, whatever I get out of these parts will help me buy parts that I DO need. Any thoughts? I know it's tough without seeing them. Maybe I can post some pix if this is indeed the best forum and way to ask this question.

    thanks for any help!

Offer to trade for the parts you need, he may be able to find them here or on fleabay for a good price and you'll both be happy. With all the modern suspensions going on rods the stock stuff was usually worthless, but that was before a lot of stock restorations.

Stock early Chevy suspension and axles aren't worth much for resale, if you didn't already have a buyer for them you'd have to sit on them for a LONG time before you found another buyer. A front and rear axle/suspension and steering box, in usable condition but having sat since the 60's, I'd say worth $100, maybe $200 on a good day.

  5. +1, if I had the axle and steering I'd want $100-$125 on the complete axle and $75-$100 on the steering. Depends just how nice they are - stuff ready for a restored show car might be more money, stuff that's rusty and needs to be completely taken apart and gone through, less.

I appreciate the input guys. I know him, but only through a friend. My biggest fear was that I'd sell them for next to nothing and then find out that he sold them again to build another 20X50 addition onto his garage. I COULD USE A BIGGER GARAGE if that were the case. I went out and worked on the Explorer rear that I got for the 32. As soon as I get that installed, I'll be done with the axles and stuff. Here's a photo of my two projects. I'm hoping to get the 32 on the road by the southeast nats next year. T will have to wait a little longer.
