How does one go about figuring out a fair price for parts that cannot easily be found for sale?

I am thinking (THINKING) of parting out the chrome and stainless on the 58. I have an idea for the taillight housing and headlight housing, but am unsure as far as the hood ornament, the 4 spears on each side, and the chrome that goes to the front fender from the door.

Basically all the moldings you see on the side here.

Thinking about selling the bumpers and grill as well. credit for the picture goes to Oldsmobile1958

  2. put them on ebay. $1.00 each, no reserve. That will tell you what they're worth.

It's what I do with my stuff. FYI.

^^^ Like he said. Some parts are only worth what ebay will pay. Often disappointing.:(

Do an "advanced search" on the bay, look for "completed listings", and you will find out what those types of parts have sold for in the past, that's a start.

the days of putting up a listing for $1.00 and getting fair market value on ebay are long gone. especially with an obscure car. not many people restoring those 58's... might only have one bidder and sell it for $1.00.
