    This discussion has been going on for decades. In the seventies and eighties the cars we did with lacquer and it was so labor-intensive it wasn't funny. A rust blister showed up a year later was devastating. 32 years ago and wanted to know what was the most powerful primer in the world and this is what I came back with. The new epoxies coming out of Europe use gl*** spheres and Mica got to cut off the oxygen to improve corrosion resistance. Zinc phosphate epoxy is not airtight that's why they added gl*** spheres and mica to cut off the oxygen. zinc-rich epoxy primers 3000 hours of salt spray , epoxy 700 or so, aluminum pigmented moisture cure 3 coats 14000. 32 years ago I painted the top of a 38 Packard where the hood ornament was and it was pitted. I sprayed two coats and pitting was gone I displayed that radiator shell for 18 years at all the major car shows on the East Coast. I still have it today .
