O.K.....I am probably gonna get alot of heat here....it is just my opinion....takes all kinds to make the world go around......but there is just something about a Subject Willys Coupe in gray primer.....it has just got to be that way for me......I will search out gray primered Willys! It just fits like a gray primered '55 chev two lane blacktop car......when the Willys get fixed up with all of the niceties.......they lose there interest for me.....its like seeing a very cool 40 Ford at a Hotrod show, or a neat early Mustang......after the 2nd or third one you see in long lines of them.....you are just zooming by them, they become the usual....nice yes, but not holding my interest.......they have to be in gray primer, in the g***er config. for me. Something about the gray primer on those cars!

Why do you expect heat from the board ?? Yes the board is anti-Rat-Rod but nothing says you can't use primer as a finishing agent and still have a rod that looks well built and isn't held together with license plates and street signs. In fact don't they call it a satin finish ? ... just to seperate the rods from the rats ?

More power to you on your grey primer !! Throw some clear coat over it and keep the look and finish a little longer

I don't care for the "gold chain" looking Willys, but I'm more of a painted fan, than primered. I guess I just don't care for either end of the spectrum. Too fancy, or too unfinished.

Thought I would get heat from the pristine finish guys......not that they don't have their place, I guess.......It's like a good Hamburger....you gotta have a good cheese with it.......and a hamburger shouldn't be a hamburger.....they should be outlawed.......you have a hamburger-by law it must be a cheeseburger! Should be that way with a '40/'41 Willys coupe....not even so much the earlier ones, or the pickups......But a '40/'41 Must have Grey primer! Should be the 11th Commandment! Look at the more primitive Willys in primer, or in work...Wow! Now that is a G***er at it's finest! Sorry Kiwi Kev, yours looks good in brown primer too, but just something about the gray....er...grey......er......"Light Primer" and not all finished.....just fast and crude!!! Gotta love it!
I didn't realize that this board frowned on Rat Rods......Huh.....that is news to me! Thank you for telling me that!
So now........Grey Primer......if I wanted to do that on one of my cars...can I put a clear over it or something to prevent water absorption and keep it looking good, but more primative

I like them both ways. I also like them with a nice big grilled green pepper on them. Mmmmm.... Now I'm craving an 'Ole Cheeseburger' from Nations!!

Nothing grabs my attention faster than a g***er style Willys but nothing boils my blood faster than a "pro street" lowered one. Just my humble opinion. Go ruin a Chevette or something, leave thecool stuff alone hahaha

Actually, I know how you feel. Primered rods grab my attention first. It's an automatic response. And grey primer works perfectly!
