Hey guys, I'm new to the forum, altough have been getting info from it for years. I have a small problem that I'm guessing someone else ran into before. I have a Mustang II(TCI crossmember) set up on my 51 truck with coil spring/shock set up. I'm gonna air bag it and found some Heidts lower tubular arms set up for bags. Sounds too easy, eh, well I say no. The lower arms seem to be 1/8-3/16" too narrow. I know sometimes the arm shrink when welded together, so I think I have 2 options. 1) Spread the lower control arm at the bushing points to fit-or-2) grind down the lower contorl arm extension? Pictured below with gusset welded to it and the crossmember. I know if you call TCI, I'll probably get told you have to buy their componets to make it work. But I say, what fun is it if you can't grind or bend something. Whadda y'all think.....
Just a heads up. You're posting in the intro forum, which is where you tell us something about yourself -pretty much a requirement before asking for help. Also there's not much love for M II stuff and especially bagged on this TRADITIONAL hotrod board.
Sorry about not knowing protocol. Hi, my name is Matt and I like to fix things and drink beer. Not sure which one I'm better at...Also sorry if the front end set up offends anyone. I didn't install it on the truck. I would prefer the straight axle, but aquired the truck that way. I know it's not TRADITIONAL, but still trying to make it cooler than it is. Anyhow, I'll repost under a different forum to see if anyone's ran into it. Thanks for the heads up JackdaRabbit
