Anybody else having a problem with 'Search'? I select a subject, hit 'search', and the page comes up, for 2 seconds. Then it whisks me to the Yahoo page, as if I'd selected THAT! Looking to see if there's a thread on the NEW Sacramento county law against working on any car in your own garage, "with tools not normally found in the household kitchen". If there's a thread, please bump it or send me a P.M.? Sacramento's only 100 miles from me, and I'm not ready to move to Idaho. (yet)
Here is 180 threads that has something to do with Sacramento. HRP https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/search/192883629/?q=Sacramento&o=relevance&c[node]=5
sounds like a browser settings/malware/spyware issue on your computer? Or maybe there's something on the HAMB page that makes it happen, and my browser settings make it so it doesn't happen to me.
Thanks, guys. Jim...I've rid this thing of an ad invasion I was getting...('Auto something') but this problem has remained. I'll check for malware. Danny...Thanks, I'll look 'em up. Imagine a law: "Arrested for posession of tools...Lots of 'em." 6:00 news, bewildered bimbo: "What do you suppose he was going to do with all those tools?"
Jason's article about it https://jalopnik.com/sacramento-county-says-its-illegal-to-work-on-your-own-1836085130
Mike, You will get a lot more results using google to search on the hamb. Put any search item in the google search box like -sacramento site:www.jalopyjournal.com- Without the slash marks at the beginning and end. Insert your search term or terms like this. In this case I just used Sacramento. You must include site:www.jalopyjournal.com to get only hamb threads.
anyways, doesn't look like anything was posted about it, and I sure don't remember seeing anything posted about it. Maybe someone ought to make a post, it's politics, but it's also very on topic
I friend of mine was transferred from the Oconee Nuclear station, in Seneca, South Carolina to one of the stations in Michigan, he had always done his own maintenance and was shocked when a neighbor reported him for working on his truck in the driveway of his house. He told the officer that he was ignorant of any such law forbidding working on your car on your own property, The officer used the old, "Ignorance of the law is no excuse" it didn't fly in court ether. As I recall the fine was around 300 Bucks, Ron decided then and there I was not going to stay in Michigan any longer than necessary, plus being from the South he hated the cold weather, within the year he was once again employed by Duke Power and working at Oconee again. I was just reading a news item this morning about a woman in Florida who was fined $100K for uncut grass and a dirty pool for a house she didn't even own anymore... and the city doesn't care, they're going after her because she's the last owner-of-record they have. Another guy fined $30K because he fixed his own roof after a hurricane to prevent water damage and didn't permit it. Living in the sticks like I do has it's issues, but crap like this isn't one of them...
