I was going to respond to @chevy57dude 's post about channeled yellow cars by posting a picture of Millner's yellow deuce coupe but I got an error message saying, "There was a problem uploading the file". I had this same problem a few days ago.
A few users have had the same issue. I think it’s related to cloudflare… which is a dns service we use for security. I’m working on each issue as server errors spark up.
I'm having the same issues, but only with certain picture files, which seem totally random. Some work, some bring up error messages.
Hello, As some photos are given a copyright for the photo posted. So, I do not like to post copyright photos without permission. But, others in most folks files have been used plenty of times. When the computer thread like the HAMB rejects it or does not allow you to use the photo. There are other ways. Especially if the photo is your own. Just the other day, I was making a post to a thread and the photo I wanted to post had been used many times in many different posts. But, each time I copied it from my file and tried pasting it to the ongoing thread typing area. Yes, I did get a "problem uploading the file..." Even though it is a photo my dad took of me in a cowboy outfit. It was his own photo, never copyrighted and posted in several threads. Jnaki The photo was found in my files again and tried one more time. So, as the moment of the posting was upon me, I pasted it on an art drawing page. Once pasted and then copied again, I could re-paste it onto the HAMB post I was writing. So, there are ways to get by, if the photo is not copyrighted and prevents anyone from using it without permission. It may be the time, but those that post photos with trademark overlays are obvious to everyone. But, if it is your own photo and the thread is not working well, then there are alternatives. YRMV
Recently had a problem getting one of my images to upload to a forum post. Probably made at least 3 attempts with no luck. Maybe just a glitch? It was a plain ol' JPEG file. Not huge. 499x934 pixels, 102kb file size. Thought it might have gotten corrupted but opened fine on my laptop. Then I remembered that image files also contain some code known as header information. Things like where the image file begins, the resolution of the image and what color space is being used. If some of that header info wasn't recognized it might keep the file from uploading. I had a little time to experiment so I opened the file with the Windows Photos app. Made a couple clicks and opened the tool to resize images. Downsized the height and width of the the image by one pixel to 498x933 and resaved the image figuring it would also rewrite the header info. And then the image uploaded to the forum in a flash, like normal. This might not always fix an upload problem but it's quick and easy to give it a try.
I have been getting a lot of that "Sorry there was a problem uploading your file", instead of saying, "The picture was too big" Hope that @Ryan can get the system fixed, time to call the "German" to cure the problem! These are all my own photos shot with my Nikon D-600.
Try resizing a few of them just a couple pixels smaller and force it to rewrite the header information. Let me know if it works or not, either way.
I always try to crop the images as tight as I can with out losing too much detail of the over all image. I just shot 466 images of a private car show this past Saturday, and will start a thread about it. A few of the images I was playing with, I saved as a copy, and they were well in the size and range of what I usually post, but they still kept getting that "sorry there was a problem with uploading your file" How exactly and what are the commands to force it to rewrite the header information? Thanks from Dennis.
I tried editing, resizing and renaming one file and I can't get it to upload. I took like 10 pictures in a row with my phone camera and the other ones all uploaded fine and this one will not, no matter what I do.
If I'm working with a bunch of photos I use Irfanview to do batch processing to resize and/or rename the files. It works quick and never causes any problem like this. To do just one picture it was going to be easier to use Windows Photos. I may just be spinning my wheels and this experiment had nothing to do with "fixing" my upload issue. But it was worth a try and I got my photo uploaded. You really don't have to do anything complicated to get a new header file written to the image. Just resizing the image should force it to be rewritten because you've changed some of the image properties. What software are you currently using to do your resizing?
