I've dealt with Wheel VIntiques for years. I've ordered many sets of different styles, chrome, bare, wires, powder coat, chrome and bare, powder and stainless, etc. Always good quality and good delivery in my experiences. Decent people to work with, imo. Nick

Ive dealt with Paulsen 4 times. The first 3 times everything went great. The last time (and I do mean last) was a pair of 15x5 chrome reverse wheels w/ early ford bolt pattern.
The wheels arrived on time and looked great. When I got around to taking then to get tires mounted, I noticed that there were no valve stem holes in either rim.
These rims come from the plater in 2 pieces and are welded together at Paulsens. This means that they got by "quality control" at both places. Paulsens told us to just drill the rims for valve stems, we decided on a new set of rims because if the rim happened to rust at the stem hole we would be screwed.
The "new" rims came with valve stems already installed (wanna bet that they just drilled the old rims?) Im also looking for a quality wheel shop.

Nothing to do with Pete Paulsen but I had major problems with the delivery of a pair of frame rails locally. I disputed the charge with my credit card company and sure enough the asshole had them made the week after.

Locally, don't ever pay for anything before you get it in your hand, out of town use your credit card and that way you have some recourse.

haha, i had one rim i got from moon that didn't have a stem hole either.
Called them back and told them, they just said to drill it!
I did, i couldn't wait for another wheel..not that they offered it or anything..

Let me first start by saying that if you did not specifically order reversed rims, the chrome OE wheels will not be reversed. They will be just like Original Equipment. Just something to think about.

I recently received my Wheel Vintiques chrome OE rims which I purchased through Summit. The cost about $80 a piece. When I initially placed the order I was told the rims were on backorder and was given the expected ship date. I received the rims on that date. Excellent service from Summit and the Wheel Vintique rims are very, very nice. I would not hesitate dealing with either again.

Now the Gennie shifter fiasco, well that's a different story... :D

I can see having to wait for custom wheels, wheels that have to be plated, etc. What I can't understand is the poor communication, lack of respect for a customer and the blame-if we screwed up your order,it's your fault. Tough.

Do they think the street rod/hotrod guys don't talk? Someone ought to send this thread to Paulsen and see what they say then.

I called my credit card company and disputed the charge ,due to lack of delievery.I then called Paulson and told them to forget it dont bother to send them now. They told me they would find out where the wheels were and call me right back. The last time they told me that bullshit ,i waited for two days and they still never called me back,i ended up calling them again.I said dont bother. They can work it out with my credit card company about the payment.Well back to the drawing board, are there any honest wheel companies left?

Okay,I sent them a thread link along with a polite note. We'll see if they have the decency to respond. Sad if they don't. There must be somebody out there willing to make wheels and deal fairly with customers who are willing to be fair and pay a fair price-just don't seem to know who--

At the time I got my wheels from them I lived 10 minutes away so I dealt with them in person. He just had 1 guy for the wheels, he welded them up and did all the phones and stuff. But he never seemed to be a people person, just wanted to hide in the back and weld. They order the stampings from the same company many others do. They are also less than 10 minutes away from Stockton Wheel.

I drove there, he measured my wheels, and had to order the centers I needed. The 6 lug centers (rears for my car) only come for 15" wheels and needed to be turned, 10 days later I was back there, he did a final fit and then welded them while I waited.

When I ordered my Astros from Pete for my Galaxie, it was the same story. The order was late, I'd call, get the "lemme check and call you back" bullshit and would never hear back. It got pretty damn irritating very fast. When I worked in customer service, I would have been fired over handling customers the way they do.

I have high standards and am a very harsh critic. If I'm going to give you my money, I want my part right away, I want it nice and you better kiss my ass to get return business....which isn't much different from the way business USED to be. Its not that I want the business to lose money, no not at all. I just want them to be thankful for my order, deliver it on time, and encourage me to do business with them again through good customer service. Its really becoming a concept that a lot of places out there need to work on.

I called Paulsons 3-4 times a day from then on out. I got my order, but it was still 10-14 days late from when it was supposed to be here. Squeeky wheel got the grease, but he lost me as a return customer because of the way they handled everything and the lateness of the order. I'll for sure order direct from Allied, VAP, or any other local Hamber next time.

ordered a set of steelies from them a few years ago for a dodge roadster that we were building for one of the guys in our club. We got the car on the road and couldn't figure out why it was shaking so violently, went through everything and couldn't find the problem, so Ritchie took it to a shop that did high speed balancing on the car. the front wheels were both fucked up, brand new from Paulson, last time we dealt with them.

What in the Hell is my problem with getting decent wheels and tires on my '60? A good friend of mine handed me over a nice set of vintage "ET" slots for my car.I guess he took mercy on me after all the crap i have been going through lately .Things like shady wheel dealers ,regular blowouts in 100 degree weather and so on.I went and bought new lugs and tires ,then went to have them mounted by some mullet dude with rotten teeth. The first damn one he tried to break down the bead on he missed the tire and cracked the wheel almost in half ,right to the center.I didnt get mad ,they told me to find another one and they would pay for it.I had to buy a pair from another friend, because he wouldnt seperate them.I went back to the tire place with receipt in hand and they pretty much said eat shit and die ,they wouldnt pay for zip .I ended up going to another tire guy accross town and had another blowout on the way.Things have gotta get better...

I followed the link to Paulsen's Ebay sales and checked on his feedback - 2 negative out of 11 sales. Not too good seeing as how this is his business.

in all fairness, the neg feedback left for him, one is no longer an ebay member, and the other was a zero feedback member, i noticed that when i was looking for wheels last week, i ended up ordering them from Summit racing, $86 each including shipping for wheel vintiques wheels. they say a 4 week turnaround, we'll see.

it's pretty sad when you gotta skip the "well known" names...in favor of a discount parts place!

I know. I've got a set of Halibrand look alikes coming from an an ebay seller. Paid Tuesday and they should be here Monday by UPS per UPS tracking. $400 for the set shipped . The seller has over 800 positive feedbacks and no negative as a comparison.

Pete paulsen has been great to me. I haven't had a problem with shipping and their wheel is quality . But these problems are everywhere now. Customer service, quality and the basic task of actually giving a shit by companies has long gone or got worse. Look at jamco, completely too a dump on its customers. It's a gamble out there interms of price, quality and service. It seems that everyone is out to screw everyone else.
